We had the good fortune of connecting with Tarrion J. Parish and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tarrion J., is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor is transparency. Without being transparent or vulnerable, I wouldn’t have an audience today. My willingness to be open and share the harsh truths about my life draws people in. Sometimes.. situations can make you feel like you’re the only person in the world experiencing what you’re going through and it’s hard to talk to or share with others. I’ve become the person who shares and because of that, others feel like they aren’t alone.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am most proud of the relationships that I’ve created since blogging. People from around the world, people of different backgrounds, cultures, races, etc. I think what sets me apart is my ability to connect and level with my readers. My writing style/tone allows readers to feel like I’m talking to them personally. They hear me; they feel me and, in a way, they see me.
What have I learned along the way?
1. No one cares.
2. If you don’t do it, someone else will.
3. If you love what you do, others will too.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week-long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Friday, I would take them to The Warwick for dinner, then A’dor to end the night. Saturday, we would have brunch and mimosas at my house, then a rooftop bar before bar hopping. Sunday is for brunch and SundayFunday.. Sunday we’re out from 11am til 2am.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My close friends Jayde, Aunjanee, Kourtnie and Eryn. It’s hard sharing your real life with the world. It’s also realllly hard owning your mistakes. These four have kept me centered and have continued to reassure me throughout my journey. I never thought that I would have a blog with many readers. It was never a goal or in my plan. Writing may seem easy when people only think about you sitting down, typing and then submitting, but this is so much more. I am literally sharing my real life and my journey in real time and that has opened the door to criticism, unwanted opinions and poor advice. But my friends continue to pour love into me, as I continue to pour into others.
