We had the good fortune of connecting with LaShanna Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaShanna, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I am blessed to have a background in performing arts. I have directed, mounted and produced shows in addition to the performance factor. When I entered the health and wellness space I was able to use both sides of my brain to help impact my health community. The art of listening and having empathy will go a very long way with people. After 13 years of combining schooling and skill I wanted to go a step further. I decided to bring my wellness work to my first love the artistic space. I cultivated a safe pavilion for women to be helped and heard through cinema. All of us have been impacted by theater, music, film and television. With the traction that is needed in the health issues of women particularly black women it made sense to use this vehicle. I have released my first documentary titled Black Boddess and there’s so much more to come.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the proud founder of Wholistically Well Center LLC, an inclusive online center for wellness and health information. The content is centered on the 5 principles of functional medicine: The individual is not a disease but a person. We are all unique.
Functional medicine is evidence-based.
The human body is self-healing.
We each have the potential to heal diseases commonly associated with ageing.
Health is more than the absence of disease.
The site services both men and women with articles, topics, tips and health news. We have formulated a healthy balance of nutrition, functional medicine, mental health support and lifestyle at the WWCenter.
Embracing a team of unique people who specialize in what they do has helped me become a better leader and allows me to do what I do best while allowing others to do the same.
Embracing my background in performing arts and community service has translated in the way that we care, approach people and approach our mission.
I daily overcome challenges by leaning on my faith and putting it into action. I lean on my support circle and I rest often. I believe that rest is just as necessary as the work.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in the robust city of Houston where we are afforded lots of culture and diversity; from food to entertainment there is a lot to do in this city. Anyone that comes to visit me is in for colorful tour. We’re going to do a little bit of everything! (laughter) Theatre District, Midtown and the Heights are just a few areas that the city offers a plethora of activity and leisure enjoyment.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
No man/woman is an island. I am blessed and humbled to be supported by a proven circle of people. My Shoutouts go to:
My husband Gene Moore
My parents Larry and Dorothy Leonard
My sibling Larry Leonard Jr.
My sister circle
My extended family
