We had the good fortune of connecting with Krista Rollins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Krista, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
At the end of my career, I would love to have said that I left a legacy. The heart behind what I do is to help people feel more confident in cooking, their own health, and honestly in their own skin. For me, it’s not just about food and fitness; it’s so much more. I want to encourage people to feed their souls and stomachs and leave them better than when they came. I also would LOVE to have my own cookbook!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have a degree in sports wellness & management. My goal was to be a personal trainer. I started doing a little training here and there, but honestly, I got frustrated that no one did what I asked. So I stopped. I worked at a church for a bit connecting people into small groups, men’s and women’s groups, and I loved it, but then we had our first child and wanted to stay home. I became an influencer before influencers were a thing, and people got paid for a TikTok going viral. It was very hard work. I had to teach myself how to build a website, be a graphic designer, take photos and then edit them – not to mention how to write SEO content for google, be my own accountant, and the list goes on. It’s not easy by any means, but it challenges me, I love it, and I get to build a community of people I love in the process.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Cynthia Woods Pavilion for Live Music Tris for dinner
Herman Park to walk hangout
Bludorn for dinner & cocktails
Houston Museum of Natural Science
Karbach Brewing to hang out
Discovery Green
Pappasitos or Goode Company Cantina for Tex-mex & Margaritas

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be who I am today without the love and support of my mom, dad, and husband. My mom is the one who brought me into the kitchen, stepstool, and all and taught me everything she knew. She was the one who stirred up the passion for food in the first place. My dad taught me what it meant to work hard for what I wanted. He was the constant voice in my head, always pushing me to do better and shoot for the stars. My husband has been the biggest cheerleader as I stayed up late learning some new google trends, HTML, or how to take photos with a DSLR camera. He sees me and my passions and pulls out the best in me. I don’t know what I’d do without him!
