We had the good fortune of connecting with Abeiku Yanful and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Abeiku, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want to be remembered as someone who lead and uplifted as many people as possible to heights they never thought possible, God willing. I want to stand for understanding, connecting (with), and building people.

What should our readers know about your business?
Both businesses center around appreciating God for the way He has created us. My photography is about appreciate the beauty that is already within us today. The fitness is about appreciating our ability to evolve and reach any goal we may set for ourselves with discipline, consistency, and the right systems. I’m looking forward to helping many people help themselves and then others. I am where I am today because I embraced the challenges that were placed in front of me. I explored unorthodox paths: failed in many ways but learned a lot as a result. I learned belief is the foundation. Then you have to work to the best of your knowledge and ability. After that you have to endure whatever challenges that come your way (hold on dearly to that belief and use it as your fuel to keep working). Understand that you are not entitled to anything and everything you get is a blessing. Even the ability to be able to chase the goal that you are chasing. You will not succeed because of your belief and hard work alone. You need an additional factor. Some call it luck, others call it God. They are talking about the same thing. I learned the language for this from Islam and the Qur’an. I have many flaws, weaknesses, and shortcomings, so whenever I am able to accomplish anything, it is a proof from God that anybody can do it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This would be some of the things on my itinerary: visit Bait-us-Samee Mosque, eat at Drakes Hollywood, eat at Pappasitos, watch a Rockets game, hang out at the park downtown, explore the art alongside the buildings, and visit Hakim Olajuwon’s mosque!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
God, the Qur’an, Family, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Alpha & Omega Primary School in Ghana, Cornerstone Academy for Social Academy in the Bronx, P.S. 121, Friends, the black community of Cornell University and the Bronx High School of Science, the Bronx, Africans, Africa and the Diaspora. Many left off for brevity.
