We had the good fortune of connecting with AC Winston and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi AC, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My favorite quote is, “It’s not about being more it’s about knowing that I am already enough and being who he (God) has called me to be. What I have is enough and I am enough.” This quote reminds me that I have my own blessings that are specifically created for me and no matter what step I am in, in the process, God has prepared me for this exact moment.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work has significantly evolved over the past year. Professionally, I am where I am today because I am constantly studying my craft, watching videos, reading books, and consulting with other photographers on how specific shots were accomplished . I am always willing to learn and I always strive to get better. I never want to remain stagnant; my will to improve is what sets me apart from others. Even though those things may sound easy; The journey is not as simple. One of the biggest challenges was believing in myself, by taking a leap of faith, and putting work out there to be seen. I’ve overcome this by asking family and friends if they’d mind taking pictures, which gave me the opportunity to edit photos in multiple ways to ultimately decide what my signature style of photography will be. The biggest lessons I have learned are patience and that growth takes time, meaning I will not master all of the techniques in one day.

Another lesson that I’ve learned is that my work will never be exactly like other photographers. It is important to remember we all have different gifts that have been altered specifically for us. Winston’s Legacy is not just about taking pictures. It is about capturing precious memories of the community and giving my clients their best experience through the lens.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friends visit there are many places I would love to take them to. First, starting off with breakfast, I would take them to the Breakfast Klub, Taste Bar + Kitchen, or possibly a food truck that sells breakfast tacos. For lunch and dinner I would suggest, The Turkey Leg Hut, Lucille’s, Juicy crab, and Mama Juanita’s. For drinks one of my favorite places to go is The Candy Shack. The daiquiris are amazing and of course you get to play different board games with friends while enjoying a drink. One of the best places to visit is Galveston, because back home there aren’t any beaches, so anything with water and sand is a beach to me. I would also take them to the Houston museum, a Bingo Hall, Splash Town, Discovery Green Park,Hermann Park, and the Galleria Mall. Houston has so many fun and exciting places to go that it often makes it difficult to choose!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank; God, my parents Andrew and Lisa, my brother Blue, my family; and of course my closest friends. I would not be where I am today without the support of each of them.
