We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexia Reyes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I always loved fashion and shopping was always a hobby of mine. Right after Engineering school I decided I wanted to start a side hustle that didn’t feel like a job but more of something that I enjoyed doing on my day to day. So one day i just went online and did all the research then applied for permits and next thing you know i started a business. I just took a chance and never looked back.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a first-generation Mechanical Engineer and the owner of a boutique called LUXENETIC. My day to day is always hectic with my full-time job and business but I really enjoy staying busy. I currently work in the Oil & Gas Industry as an Integrity Engineer. My job is basically to make sure the oil stays on the pipe so we can distribute it throughout the US. I am proud of being one of the very few females in the industry and that I am able to show future incoming female generations that we can make anything happen in a male dominated industry. Mentorship is a passion that I’ve always sought to pursue. Instilling knowledge and values to young people so that they may flourish through success is something I truly enjoy.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
FIrst, i would start off with a good breakfast to fuel the day. This includes going to Breakfast club, Pour behavior, The Watch or Black walnut Cafe. After we would go explore the essence of this wonderful city. One only gets to know whats houston is really about through art, scenery and style. Some places we would frequent are the houston graffiti mural located near minute maid park, exploring buffalo bayou and its going outdoor monuments/views, going to James Turrel Skyspace, and then visiting The Galleria. Now for Dinner we would go to Bandista a hidden speakeasy located in the 4 Seasons Hotel, Hidden omakase for sushi, or the hobbit cafe. We could end the night at bottle blonde, Kamp, or Heart for some dancing, drinks and a good time.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a huge shoutout to GOD, my amazing family and close friends who continue to support my expanding ambition and goals. I wouldn’t be where I am now without their support.
