We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Shannon Mendoza and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexis Shannon, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I chose to get into real estate for many reasons… and ultimately, I wanted a career where I could give back, help others attain their dreams…while also having the flexibility over my schedule to be a hands on mother and continue to practice art in my free time!
In 2014, I began pursuing a career in real estate after returning from a year long sabbatical trekking the globe with my then fiancé, now husband!
We traveled to over 21 countries and I developed a deep appreciation for what family life is for a wide array of cultures and people. Being able to experience, first hand, such diverse lifestyles and perspectives… truly inspired me. It ignited my desire to become an integral part of helping people through such an intimate experience, such as buying and selling a home.
I am an artist to the core. I grew up as a classically trained ballerina, studied Dance & Musical Theatre at Sam Houston State University and moved to NYC to attend The Ailey School, one of the most prestigious dance academies in the world.
I have always had an eye for interior design and a knack for decorating. That coupled with my love of architecture and obsession with old homes…made my move to a career in Real estate, a natural progression and choice.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Its really important to me to build a strong relationship with everyone I work with to gain their trust! I am known for my attention to detail, exceptional communication/transparency, and vigorous hustle to make sure my clients are happy and get everything they deserve! I concentrate intensely on the unique needs of each individual client. My focus is not only on the end result, but more importantly; I aim to minimize the stress, educate throughout the process and keep everyone’s energy positive and confident!
First and foremost, I LOVE helping people achieve their dreams! I whole-heartedly believe it is a PRIVILEGE to be given the opportunity to work with people through this intense journey in the world of real estate.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So many people in my life have contributed to my success in real estate! First and foremost, my incredible husband, Steven Mendoza! He has always supported me unconditionally. Real Estate is tough when starting out….my husband STILL helps me with open houses, watches the kids whenever I need, and is my #1 cheerleader when things don’t go perfectly!
My wonderful family…all of my extended family….are constantly sending me referrals and sending me shout-outs on social media…what more could a girl ask for!?
I would love to thank all three of the brokers I have worked for:
– Keller Williams Metropolitan – for the excellent training and providing all of the tools I needed to begin my career 8 years ago.
– Stephanie McClimon of Abundant Living Real Estate – for her continued friendship and encouragement.
– Nan and Company Properties – my current INCREDIBLE brokerage! For ALL of their support, breaking real estate boundaries, and giving me the confidence while teaching me how to grow my business!
LAST but NOT LEAST – I want to thank ALL of my wonderful clients for trusting in me to help them achieve their real estate goals!
