We had the good fortune of connecting with Ali Lang and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ali, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“Be brave enough to be bad at something new.” -Jon Acuff The fear of failure often keeps me from attempting things. I used to get discouraged easily when I didn’t immediately succeed. I finally realized…how silly of me! Everyone has to start somewhere and each failed attempt teaches me something new and gets me closer to succeeding. This quote has really helped me shift my point of view not only when it comes to blogging, but in all areas of my life. I set it as my phone background, so I see it often. It is a constant reminder to try new things, even when I am nervous. I think anyone can benefit from adopting this point of view…let’s all be brave together! Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am not a famous influencer by any means! I like to keep my blog and social media posts carefree and fun. However, by doing so and remaining authentically myself, it has led to some exciting and lucrative collaborations. Since I don’t rely on Hoots of a Night Al for income, it has been easy to only take collaborations for products I would actually use. I think that is obvious to my followers and helps them trust me when I recommend something. I’m most proud of making enough to take my husband on a trip together a couple of years ago. It was so fun to use my efforts to celebrate with him!Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our home in The Woodlands, Texas has so much to offer! First, we would have to hit up several of my favorite food spots! Bigotes Street Tacos has the most incredible tacos, charro beans, and chips and queso! Next, we could stroll around the Woodlands Waterway and Town Green Park. There are almost 200 miles of trails here, and every spot offers different things. We may stumble across a lake with turtles and ducks to feed, one of the many public art installations to photograph, or a beautiful tree canopy to walk under. Every trail offers something different! We could grab a pizza to go from Grimaldi’s and take it to have a picnic by Lake Woodlands in North Shore Park while enjoying the sunset over the water. One day we would have to head to Market Street to peruse all of the awesome shops and maybe take in a movie at Cinemark. I would love to treat them to lunch at Jasper’s as well. If we didn’t get our fill of shopping there, we could walk over to The Woodlands Mall and shop until we dropped at their two levels of stores (and finish with a yummy dinner at Shake Shack!). While at the mall, we could even hit up Escape the Room and try to solve one of their award winning escape rooms! Finally, a spin on the Water Taxi or Trolley would be the perfect finale to take in the beautiful landscaping and end our time togetherWho else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband and my mom are always cheering me on! My husband is willing to let me take pictures of food before we dig in and always asks to see my posts even though he’s not on any social media! He is a computer scientist, so he’s been instrumental in helping me set up my blog and keeping things running behind the scenes. My mom is always the first person to comment on a post or respond to a poll in my stories. She’s so creative, and I’ve learned so much watching her through the years!
