We had the good fortune of connecting with Alicia Liu and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alicia, how do you think about risk?
If you don’t take risks, then you’re not living. I wouldn’t be here today if I didn’t take some calculated risks in all the positions I’ve held with companies as well as personal life decisions. I recently saw a post come through that said “take risks and don’t live with regrets”.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My mother was trained in traditionalChinese painting and my father was a self taught chef so creating was always part of our family culture and in my blood. As I embark on my own journey of creating a brand and company, I will always do it creatively as well as cross pollenate successful ideas from related industries.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live on the west side of LA so we’re definitely going to be outdoors. Starting the day with a brunch-like menu at the Destroyer in Culver City with a sailboat ride from Marina del Rey to see some sea life such as seals, sea lions and dolphins. And of course, followed by a trip to our pop up at Venice Beach for some ice cream at our new speak easy lounge called the LT Dessert Den. We will fill days with art and culture at the Getty, Lacma and The Broad which will take us to the east side so we can grab eclectic asian eats such as Chifa and more soft serve by 626 Hospitality

And if we have a week, we would drive down the coast over the border to Valle de Guadelupe, the wine country of Mexico. It’s only 4 hours by car and an easy 2-3 day weekend trip to some of the best wineries and restaurants.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The country of Italy. I used to live in Florence, Italy throughout my 20’s. When I started a career in fashion, I wasn’t able to visit Italy as much as I would like. After 15 years, I finally returned to my second home, visited old friends and came back living on a higher vibrations because the people and culture of Italy give me energy to keep going. Amore!
