We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Dennis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amy, what’s your definition for success?
Success really can’t be defined in one sentence. It is composed of many different things. Whether you are learning something new or accomplishing a goal, these are the hallmarks of the definition. For me, success is when I take risks in my life and leave my comfort zone.

What should our readers know about your business?
I have been the owner of SeekingSitters Houston-North for 10 years. Our goal is to provide childcare for families, churches and special events . We hire only the most qualified, experienced and loving babysitters. I make sure that every sitter on our team is someone I would be 100% comfortable watching my own children. Although there are other online babysitting services, we have one thing that sets up apart. That would be the extensive background screening we perform on every sitter. We have a licensed private investigator on staff who conducts a thorough screening. Our mission is to build a safe sitting community in the Houston NW area. One thing I’ve learned over the years is to treat everyone with respect and kindness. That goes a long way in preserving business relationships and building community.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
First of all, we would book one of our SeekingSitters! We would get a sitter scheduled to watch the kids, then make our plans. Houston is so diverse and has much to offer. You really can’t go wrong on any itinerary Whatever my friend wanted to go see…I’d make it happen.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My daughters, Emma and Kate, have been an integral part of the business from day one! These girls love interacting with people at festival booths and lend a hand when needed at big church events. They have the sweetest hearts and love telling people about SeekingSitters! My husband, Russell, has been an awesome partner. He is my biggest fan and always coming up with creative ideas for the business. I am very blessed.
