We had the good fortune of connecting with Andromeda Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andromeda, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?

It’s surreal to reflect on my life and the many paths I’ve traveled to get to where I am now. I’ve always had a nagging interest in the healthcare field. It started in high school when I took a pharmacy technician course and after high school I completed a nursing aide course. Life took another turn for me, so nothing ever came to fruition after those courses. Though I’ve been interested in the healthcare field, I never took it seriously, even with the many health issues I’ve dealt with. At least, not until those health issues truly got the best of me, and doctors couldn’t provide me with any answers.

For most of my life, I have lived with various ailments. My every action was controlled by chronic migraines, anxiety, skin disorders, digestive issues, you name it. As an adolescent, I endured physical, verbal, mental, and sexual abuse. This trauma exacerbated my health issues and essentially triggered more. My health continued to decline as I reached adulthood. It wasn’t until after I had children that I decided enough was enough. I needed to take full control of my health, but I didn’t know how. The last straw was when I contracted a digestive tract infection. This illness caused me so much pain and discomfort that I truly believed it would take me away from my family. This thought terrified me. Unfortunately, the doctor just prescribed me medication and sent me on my way. There was no dialogue that provided me with knowledge, resources, or practices regarding improving my lifestyle for healing and overall well-being.

I didn’t want to take those pills and certainly didn’t want to take medications for the rest of my life. I no longer wanted my health, or lack thereof, to dictate my life. I wanted pain-free. I wanted to heal. I wanted balance. The quality of my life depended on me making better choices. I finally took matters into my own hands and traveled down a deep rabbit hole of research. What I found out, was quite simple: by making a conscious effort to implement various lifestyle changes, I could potentially improve my health naturally. Needless to say, that is exactly what I started doing. Since then, my health has drastically improved, and I have now made it my mission to help others on their health and wellness journey by utilizing a natural, holistic approach. This is ultimately how Balanced: A Wellness Co. came to be.

What should our readers know about your business?

Unlike my business name suggests, wellness is not about finding that “perfect” balance. There is no such thing as perfection, especially in wellness. Remember, progress over perfection is the ultimate objective. We can only strive to achieve a balance that works for our own unique needs and goals. What works for one person, may not work for you and vice versa. Our purpose here at Balanced is to help you find the balance that YOU need to nurture wellness in your life.

Partnering with a natural health professional can help you set clear expectations and objectives that will help you reach optimal wellness. Once we have established what your goals are, we can customize a plan of action to meet those goals.

Balanced provides support by combining different modalities (techniques) with an emphasis on a holistic approach. Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live a pretty simple yet busy lifestyle so I’m all about finding peace and relaxing as much as I can. I strive to find ways to improve my health and well-being while having a great time and creating memories. For starters, I love getting massages so that is definitely going on the itinerary. Not only are massages relaxing, but the health benefits are amazing. Maybe even book a full spa day for the ultimate relaxation experience. I also enjoy hiking so we would have to find various hiking trails to conquer throughout the week. Being out in nature has been proven to have profound healing effects if you didn’t know. This may not seem like much, but I truly enjoy living a simple lifestyle, especially when mom life and entrepreneurship keeps me pretty active. Life is fast enough as it is, so I like to just take things slow and enjoy one day at a time.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My children are the sole reason why I decided to take my health seriously. I could not imagine leaving them behind. I want them to know that without health, we have nothing. Health is truly wealth. Every day I try to teach them the importance of taking care of their well-being by eating healthy, getting exercise, drinking enough water, practicing mindfulness and so much more. I would also like to show my husband gratitude for being my pillar of strength for the past 15 years and counting. You have truly loved me through it all, in sickness and in health. I love you!
