We had the good fortune of connecting with Archie Richmond, Shemetre Richmond and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Archie Richmond, Shemetre Richmond, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Archie and Shemetre Richmond’s mission was shaped by decades of experience in environmental safety, facility management, and consulting while developing customizable janitorial and environmental support services for businesses and residences, prioritizing safety and compliance.
We aim to build long-term relationships through trust, exceptional performance, and responsiveness to client needs while integrating facility services with strategic, performance-based solutions by Investing in EPA-approved technologies for effective results.
Our leadership reflects a vision to offer comprehensive, scientifically validated solutions, empower small and disadvantaged businesses, and build trust-based client relationships through performance and compliance excellence.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our airborne disinfecting process disinfects the entire space of an area which we call “whole home” or “whole business” professional disinfection, industrial-grade airborne and high-touch surface sanitation, and custom cleaning solutions.
Our mission is to provide highly effective, science-backed solutions that safeguard your health, enhance workplace safety, and ensure regulatory compliance. This is an enhancement to our janitorial service, carpet cleaning and airduct cleaning.
We also pride ourselves on using environmentally friendly products and is effective against COVID-19, influenza, and a wide range of pathogens.
We are in growth mode and while we have a great customer base we are expanding. We are a family business, and it has been an enjoyment to work with our children and employ other family and friends.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The greater Houston area has so many great spots! I would first take them to explore Montrose so we could enjoy its eclectic cafes and art scene, followed by a visit to The Menil Collection and vibrant street art in the Heights.
The next few days we would go to the Museum District—spend the morning at the Houston Museum of Natural Science and the Museum of Fine Arts, and the Houston Museum of African American Culture, then stroll through Hermann Park and catch a free show at Miller Outdoor Theatre before heading to a concert or performance at the Hobby Center or White Oak Music Hall.
We’d also dedicate a day to Space Center Houston for an immersive NASA experience, walk the boardwalk at Kemah and later enjoy dinner and rooftop views at POST Houston.
We certainly would have some outdoor fun at Buffalo Bayou Park with kayaking or hiking, then explore Downtown attractions like Discovery Green, wrapping up with a sports game or live music.
Lunch in Chinatown or Rice Village is a must then an evening enjoying seasonal festivals.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Archie: Michael Warren, my uncle, who owned a janitorial company taught me how to do get into the business and collaborate with other businesses. He took his time to show me the way of the craft. Since then, I’ve learned new skills that I’ve added to my company. The book that has been a great source for me is called Above The Line by Urban Meyer. It’s a coaching book but it’s a life coaching book even though he’s talking about football. The book teaches you about life and how to show up every day, how to be accountable and how to do things the right way all of the time.

Shemetre: My inspiration for entrepreneurship started with my grandfather, Robert George Glover, who in 1966 was the first African American to manufacturer printing inks. I spent many summers at his business, learning the trade and watching him conduct business on a national and international level. My friend, master mind coach and mentor Nicole Balaam has helped me change my mindset which has catapulted my business. My latest good read is her book; The Fortitude Factor. It is an easy read that focuses on intentionally living your personal or entrepreneurial dreams and believing you can handle the mental and emotional strength in facing life’s adversities courageously.
