We had the good fortune of connecting with Ariana Ford and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ariana, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
My online consignment boutique began as a detailed concept a couple of years before it came to life in the living room of my one bedroom apartment during Hurricane Harvey. I’d always envisioned myself running my own business that focuses on empowering women. I had a bazillion wild thoughts on what kind of business until inspiration arrived in the form of a family member with a remarkable resale business. I even recalled experience from a brief moment in my life where I worked at a consignment shop and learned quite a bit from the owners. I began with a TON of clothing and shoes that needed purging from my closet due to recent weight loss, they were still in great condition so I decided that these items would be my startup inventory. “The Diva Downsize” was conceived from my aspiration of self-sufficiency and need for change and it lives on as “A.Fordable Fashions”, the ultimate experience for all divas to look fabulous and make money!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
A.Fordable Fashions is a consignment boutique that seeks to revolutionize fashion exchange and promote the empowerment of women through online commerce and networking. I shop your closet and sell your items, you clear out space and make money, then another diva gets new treasure and feels fabulous! I hand-select gently loved and new treasures of excellent quality to ensure that divas of all shapes and sizes look like a billion bucks without ever spending it. The importance of embracing my individuality is one of many lessons highlighted during this entrepreneurial journey, attracting the type of energy that is actually meant for me has been vital to the forward progression of my business. Many bonds have been made during this venture and I am most looking forward to forming more wonderful connections with even more phenomenal women while I continue to grow my business!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom will always be the first person to be recognized in any and all of my successes because I would not be who or where I am without her unending support and ferocious love. My little sister is next on the roster – she’s always real with me about me and she’s usually willing to lend her talents to whatever big crazy idea I run by her. These two ladies have been the only constant in my thirty years of life, I can’t imagine doing anything I’m currently doing without them in it. A huge thanks to the family members, friends, coworkers, church members and all of my clients for each and every piece of clothing, shoes and accessories you’ve sold through and purchased from me.
