Meet Arielle Aure | Lash Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Arielle Aure and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Arielle, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks has played a significant role in my life.
I would say the first major risk I took was moving away from my hometown of Jersey City, NJ at the age of 17 to pursue a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Florida. I was young jumping into a world of unknown. I was alone in a new state surrounded by strangers. Although, after some time I found my second home. I developed lasting friendships and learned so much about myself.
The next risk was deciding to become a lash technician and run a successful business. I took the necessary steps and did what I set out to do. I started in Florida, then moved back home to NJ and continued. In the beginning it was difficult to build clientele while also perfecting my craft. In the end I managed but still felt like taking another risk.
I was set to moving to Houston. I packed up all my belongings and found an apartment. My plan was to work a part time position while re-growing the lash business. Finding clients in Houston was far more difficult since I knew absolutely no one. I persevered and relied heavily on content creation. Social media was a great resource for me. After some time, my clientele started to grow and I was able to quit my job and lash full time.
I can reflect now and see that I wouldn’t be where I’m at now if I didn’t indulge in risk taking. Risk taking is usually associated with an adrenaline rush, like riding a rollercoaster, conquering a fear. There is that thrill component, which has usually pushed me to take risks. The excitement of the unknown. There’s a saying that has always stood out to me “you’ll never know if you don’t take a risk.” This saying has become my motto. It has proven itself time and time again. Taking a risk is never the comfortable option, which is totally fine. Sometimes you need to step out of your comfort zone to see your true potential. I encourage everyone to take that risk because you truly never know what you’re capable of.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My name is Arielle, I am a lash artist located in the north Houston area. My brand is called “Winged by Ari”. I offer a variety of lash extensions ranging from natural sets to dramatic sets. I specialize in tailoring lash sets to fit my clients. I absolutely love working as a lash artist, because I can do what I love while meeting new people. I get to hear their stories, be a listener when needed, or simply offer a space of relaxation.
It was not an easy task to get where I am at. It took a lot of “trusting the process.” In addition hard work. I did not know one person in Houston, I had to start from scratch. I made it a point to use social media to my advantage, and it worked. There were definitely times of self doubt but I always persevered because this is something I truly wanted. You have to be your biggest fan.
The biggest lesson I learned was to believe in yourself. You have to motivate yourself. Only you can dictate your own success.
I want the world to know that I don’t take this life lightly. I intend to live every bit of it to the fullest. This includes doing all I set out to do and seeing it to fruition.
My brand is dedicated to igniting confidence within yourself. I absolutely love seeing my clients’ reactions to their lashes. You can just feel their confidence grow.
Above all , I would like to remind the world that you can do anything you set your mind to.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am still new to Houston, so I don’t know all the spots just yet. When my family & friends did visit, I took them to The Post. I mainly love the rooftop, the view is great and I know sometimes they even hold events there.
I am a huge foodie. I love to eat and try different cuisines. I am Filipino, so I tend to gravitate towards Asian cuisine. I love driving to Chinatown in Bellaire, there’s so much to choose from.
Houston is huge so I definitely have more exploring to do!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First, I would like to thank my clients. There are no amount of works to express my gratitude. I appreciate you all trusting me and choosing me to be your lash tech. It is the greatest honor. Your support is what keeps me going!
Next, I would like to thank my fellow lash community in Houston. It is truly an uplifting community filled with amazing artists. Thank you for welcoming me and sharing my page when I had 90 followers.
Lastly, I owe all my success to my boyfriend, family and friends. Thank you to my boyfriend for believing in my spontaneous nature. I came to him with the idea of becoming a lash tech and he financed the coursework and bought me my first lash light. Thank you to my family, especially my parents for believing in me and always encouraging me to pursue my dreams. Finally, thank you to my dear friends. They have always supported me throughout this journey. When I first began, they would allow me to practice on their lashes. I love you all, my motivation always.
