We had the good fortune of connecting with Aye Cue and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aye, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
Initially, I’ve always had a passion for writing and storytelling. That eventually branched off into music and screenwriting, but ultimately I plan on and will have a media conglomerate of creative work. The goal is to have to have creative reins over various mediums of art, and tying them all together to tell a larger story.
At the same time, the goal is to influence and collaborate with the many underrepresented talents in or attempting to get into the entertainment industry, and give them a platform to let their imaginations run wild on a large scale. We might see it on an indy level when it comes to certain creative mediums, with a select few of us breaking through into mainstream, but I want underrepresented talents in the entertainment industry to be a mainstay on the forefront.
All and all, I just want to be a creative that gives other creatives out there the strength and motivation to keep pushing forward with their goals, no matter how much the odds are stacked against us. We can win.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is me. There’s nobody that has lived my exact walk of life, and that factors in a lot to not only my creative endeavors, but just my mentality in life, period.
As far as my art, I’ve been making music for about 12 years now. Throughout the years, I realized I’ve always had a passion for just writing stories, so I branched off into other mediums of art, like film and penning comic books. None of that is essentially easy, but that’s okay, because art is my passion and I always aim to have fun creating it.
When it comes to challenges, I’ve always dubbed myself, “The Best Player in the Game”. Reason being is because there’s going to be times where I fail, or won’t do as great as I initially plan, but I had to learn how to turn those aspects into learning situations and comeback better than before and win. We face all kinds of challenges in life, but it’s up to us to get back up and continue pushing onward and upward. It’s easier said than done, but that’s why I want to encourage others in this World to let them know they can. We have one life, and I love everyone enough to tell them, your story matters.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well first off, I’d take them to Krab Kingz, because not everybody has the pleasure to enjoy great seafood, especially crab legs.
Drinking wise, I’m not too sure, because Houston has a plethora of places to do that, so the options are endless.
However, there’s plenty a places to visit and hang out. You have The POST Houston, River Oaks District, the Galleria if they’ve never been there, I mean I love shopping, so the options are endless when it comes to that. There’s also a great selection of museums to visit in Houston, that’s a must for all my creatives out there. I don’t know, Houston has a bit of everything for everyone, it really depends on the visitors tastes.
Circling back to the food places though, we got to visit Frenchy’s. The one on Scott, specifically.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to everyone out there that’s trying to win in this game of life. The Best Players aren’t defined by their losses, but how they come back and win.
