Meet Audrey Cooks | Pilates Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Audrey Cooks and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Audrey, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my business was to allow postpartum moms a safe space to embrace the new them afterbirth through movement in a stylish way .

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I instruct Pilates classes on Tuesdays, Thursdays in the evenings from 6:30pm -7:30 pm at Marian park community center & Saturdays mornings at pop up events around Houston. I love to create a safe space for mothers and their mini me’s to learn movement together. I also create a relaxed environment for people of any fitness level to get grounded with their bodies. I Teach everyone the principles of mind, body, and spirit connection. Yes, This journey has had its ups and downs, but the beauty and peace that comes with prayer and persevering is rewarding. A lesson that I learned from the ups and downs is everything happens for a reason, at its right timing. Don’t rush the process; enjoy the process. I want the world to know that AM Athletic Pilates is not just about Pilates, it’s about empowering and embracing who you are wholeheartedly through movement. I “AM” who I am…

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would say one of our stops would be The Post htx downtown Houston. It’s like an all in one for me. You can try different cultural foods, go on the rooftop and enjoy an amazing view of the city, Touch some grass, take pictures, explore the art museum all in one place. Love it there!
Another place would be east river. They have different pop up markets there. A good way to support small businesses.
I would also go to M-K-T heights. We could shop, get our steps in, and enjoy some good food there too.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
