We had the good fortune of connecting with Azunae Joseph and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Azunae, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
My name is Azunae Joseph from the beautiful city of Dallas, Tx, and my end goal is to be a stay at home mommy. I have already started the process towards my goal. I have a book called “The Mommy Mantle: Overcoming the Pressure to be Something More” that basically explains it all. However, I personally would ABSOLUTELY love to be home with my babies, and not have to worry about the pressure that comes with working a 9 to 5 job. Let’s be honest, we have to have money to function in everyday life, but I decided in 2019, a little bit before my 1st daughter, Alaina was born that, my desire to see my baby say her first words, crawl for the first time and even take her first steps was what I wanted more than any job. The Lord gave me that desire, and HE has provided for me and my family so that I can do that. Furthermore, because I am now expecting our second baby, it’s become even more clear (through even this pandemic) that family is most important. I do desire to be entrepreneurial while home with my kids. But for the most part, I just want to embrace being MOMMY, and I’m realizing that’s okay 🙂

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
My desire to not leave my kids was what encouraged me to take the leap of faith to be a stay at home mommy. It wasn’t easy, especially because when people see a mom, they celebrate the fact that she conceived that baby, but do not always understand the sacrifices that can come along with being a mother. Furthermore, “Stay at home mom” isn’t always a title that is celebrated, and there is more so this pressure to always have “something else” going for yourself. However, when a woman just desires to be home with her children, it’s not enough to some. I had to embrace that my desire to be home with my children is okay, and not to allow myself or anyone else to push me out of my place. Even if it feels like no one understands, I’m learning to understand that my vision for myself and my family is more important than anyone’s opinion of who I am or what I should be doing. I really want my children to know that they can do anything that they have been created do, and not to allow anyone to persuade them that they can’t. I want the world to know that being a stay at home mom is to be celebrated and not put down. We are raising the next generation. That is definitely not something to be overlooked 🙂

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a friend who is also a mom come into town to hangout and get away for some mommy alone time, we would definitely stay at the W hotel! They have a pool on their roof for goodness sake! We would go to the Galleria for some indoor ice skating, North park mall for scenery and some good shopping or Legacy Hall if we want to do some outdoor shopping with more food options. Would definitely go to Potbelly because they have the best Mama Meatball Sandwich and Chicken Potpie Soup! Marble Slab for some good ice cream or Bahama Bucks. Main Event for fun and games and Studio Movie Grill for a great action or comedy movies. I love these places! Would have to visit them all before the trip is over! Lol 🙂 The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would definitely love to shoutout my Lord and savior Jesus Christ, my husband Jordan Joseph for always loving and supporting me, my wonderful children who are the reason why I decided to take the risk to step out on faith, my mommy Rosalyn Taylor-Lias for helping me become the woman I am today, and being my top mentor. Thank you Kyaris Brown for recommending me to this awesome magazine, and lastly, a HUGE shoutout to you guys for giving me this platform and allowing me to shine my light so that others can see. Thank You!
