We had the good fortune of connecting with Bismark Alejandro Rex and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bismark Alejandro, why did you pursue a creative career?
As with many painters and artists, we are seduced by this freedom and movement of living life. At twenty years old I left home in search of: if I may quote the great Alejandro Jodorowsky “in search of the consciousness”, thus I began living a very bohemian lifestyle.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Go on a bike ride, go to Menil see some art, get a michelada preparada and if its weekend go to Bauhaus and listen to some music, getting litty. 😉

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank the Institute of Hispanic Culture and Lawndale Center for giving me place to stand in the art community, thus opening many new doors and opportunities for me. Also all family and friends that been there through thick and thin. Shoutout to all the Houston Art Community and the Underground Scene were many of us still don’t get the recognition we deserve.
