We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Greene and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brian, how do you think about risk?
I think risk taking is good with anything you want to do in life. How will you know what to do if you never been through certain situations? The bigger the risk, the greater the reward. I try to keep an open mind with all risk that pop up. It’s apart of the process and it will make you a pro at whatever you do in life. My biggest risk was moving from my comfort zone (Cleveland, OH) to Houston in 2014. It’s one of best the thing I did because it wasn’t easy. I had to become a new person and adapt to this environment. I’ve grown so much since then and I love it!Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Bearded Giants is for men’s grooming beard/hair care products. More woman are starting to use certain products too and they love the scents. It started with just beard oil and has grew from there. What’s sets us apart from others is how we’re bringing the fun, while delivering amazing products. I want people to feel and look there best when using Bearded Giants. I’m most excited about where I’m headed in the next year. I feel like everything I pour into my business will come with a greater return in the future. I got to where I am by just starting. I know people say they want to do something but don’t because of life, sacrifice or being judged by peers. It’s not easy doing something that YOU want for self. We live in a world were people want success with out the hard work. If every person who wants to start a business and consistently does the work, they will see results that are unimaginable. The main thing I’ve learned so far is to keep the blinders on. When you stop to look at what someone is doing, that’s when you may feel discouraged and give up. I want the world to know that Bearded Giants is for all walks of life.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The very first thing we would do is go eat at The Breakfast Klub. They have some of the best breakfast food in Houston. I would order chicken and waffles. If you never had this before, I suggest you try that combo together. After eating breakfast I would take my friend to the Galleria mall and do some shopping. It’s one of the biggest malls here, they have every store you can think of. After shopping for 2 hours I think it’s time for lunch. We will go to True Food Kitchen. I would order my favorite dish, grilled chicken avocado wrap. My drink of choice is a red sangria with fresh fruit on the side. After enjoying a delicious meal we would head downtown to the museum district. Houston has some amazing museums that are FREE on Thursday’s. Once we’re done checking out 2 museums, we will head back home to change and get ready for the evening. I think because the weather is nice and day has been great, we will check out a few bars on Washington street and bar hop. They have some pretty cool bars and great music. The best thing about going out on Washington, is that they have food trucks out side. I would end the night by going to a taco truck and discussing the plans for the next day.The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The first person that I will shoutout is my wife, Alivia. She has been nothing but supportive in anything I wanted to do. She’s the one that says go for it, what’s the worse that could happen. I also have to shout out my older brother Lawrence. I’ve always watched him do entrepreneurship since I was a kid. He’s someone I look up to everyday and is a big inspiration for me. I can’t forget my 3 beautiful kids who are my motivation in life to be better. I have to shoutout my two Bestfriend’s, David and Durrell. They’ve been nothing but supportive in my life. I can’t forget Monica who actually referred me to you for this interview. She has been very supportive and is willing to answer any questions I may have. I can’t name everyone but the support that’s genuine, is appreciated from all.
