We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Coleman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daniel, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I feel like music and creativity have been a part of my life forever. I grew up a preacher’s kid, and my family is musically inclined through and through, so being around music isn’t just something I myself took after.

In many ways, I believe that music and creativity are a part of my ministry. I believe that I can show others the love of Jesus Christ through my life’s experiences, which are often crafted into songs. It isn’t always an easy task but knowing that I’m doing it for the Creator is always my motivation.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The one thing that I am most proud of about my art is that it tells the real-life story of my faith. I think when it comes to ministry, we often believe that we have to present a certain persona or image. There may be some truth to this, but I ‘ve learned that the greatest impact is made when we are authentically ourselves. Any time I sing, write, or produce anything, it comes from experiencing life and God’s grace.

I am a young man that loves Jesus and want more people to know more about who He is and what He’s done for me. I grew up a church kid, but as I got older, and life started to happen, I had to develop my own relationship with Christ. Sharing those experiences through my art has been a journey. I feel quite vulnerable at times, but I wouldn’t trade anything in the world for someone developing a new or refreshed relationship with Christ through my example and testimony.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So, Jackson is a small city compared to some, but there are tons of things to do! There is a plethora of restaurants to choose from and also tons of fun things to do. I have several favorite restaurants, but if I had to choose a few, Johnny T’s is a good one, and so is Amerigo. There are several events that go on in the city throughout the week and on the weekends (live music, festivals, the Farmer’s Market, athletic events, etc), so it would just be an adventure of what we’d do! Sundays are for church. That’s where everyone will be for the most part!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I have to thank God for blessing me with the gifts and talents to do what I do.

My family is second to God, specifically my mom and sister. They are the backbone and the lifeline to my encouragement. Everything that I am is a huge credit to the time and investments that they’ve made towards my successes.

I have a strong friend group as well. They support me in everything that I do and keep me accountable to pursuing my goals. I greatly appreciate them for that.
