We had the good fortune of connecting with Caitlin Lowry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Caitlin, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Over time I feel like my work life balance has stayed about the same. I usually keep it equal between the two. When I do change my work life balance it is because I am not happy with how I am at the time. I might be drowning in my work, so I change my balance more towards life allowing myself to be happy and not feel miserable. If I realize I am enjoying life too much, and I am not putting enough effort into my work, then I will have myself focus more on my work. I like to keep an equal balance and schedule, so I feel accomplished in both aspects of my work and life goals.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a Model, it is not an easy thing to get exposure and become accomplished. I still have not been able to make it into New York fashion week, but that does not stop me from giving up my dreams. It is even harder for me as I am a petite model, and I am only 5’2. My height severely limits my opportunities as many designers do not look at you if you are not at least 5’7. However, these drawbacks do not stop me. If I see a model call with a height requirement, I still go to the casting call because I believe if I can show them my walk, then my height could be overlooked. Fortunately, I have been selected to be in multiple fashion shows that had a height limit due to being confident and showing them what I am capable of. I have learned to never give up on your goals and aspirations. If you try hard enough and put in the effort, you have the possibility of accomplishing any goal you set your mind too.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take my friend to the museum district, so we could go to the museums and the Houston Zoo. I would also love to take my friend to the Color Factory for some cute pictures to take together. Some of my favorite places to eat would be Lasagna House, Mas Tacos, and Luigi’s Pizza. Luigi’s Pizza is a pizzeria that is connected to AxelRad. AxelRad is an outside bar with live music and hammocks, and Luigi’s Pizza will deliver your food to you if you decide to go to AxelRad next-door. Even though this isn’t in Houston, I would love to take my friend down to Galveston for the beach and to go to Kemah Boardwalk. It would be fun to go on amusement park rides and enjoy good seafood while down there.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a shoutout to my mother. She has always pushed me to apply for model submissions and telling me how proud of me she is when I am accepted. She supports me in anything I do and pushes me to be my best. I would also like to give a shoutout to Ms. Connie. She is the sweetest women out there, and is always giving out helpful information to not only me, but other individuals. She knows a lot about the modeling industry and loves to send out any modeling calls she sees. One more person I would like to shoutout is Jenna Barrett. She is my favorite photographer of all time, and whenever I shoot with her, she always pushing me to be the best model that I can be. Her images are amazing, and she helps me feel confident in myself when modeling.
