We had the good fortune of connecting with Camryn Shea and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Camryn, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have always known that i’ve had a creative personality and wanted to do something relating to my creativity. I feel like I am able to connect to others and inspire others through my creativity and skills. All of my passions and hobbies have some correlation to being creative…makeup/beauty, content creation, singing/music, fashion, modeling..so it pretty much just fell into place. This year has been very centered around my modeling and has been a productive and fun year in that aspect, Although overall this year definitely wasn’t that great. But I am proud of what I have accomplished and what I have created. Don’t get me wrong though, even though I say it “fell into place” it also has required a lot of time, money, effort, and even pushing myself out of my comfort zone sometimes. Overall, I am pursuing a career in entertainment/relating to creativity and artistic talent because that is what I want to do and that is what I feel is a major part of my purpose. I have never wanted to do anything else.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I think what sets me apart from most is my passion and determination. I have refused to let go of pursuing my dreams and following my heart. Unfortunately I think nowadays passion is lacking in a lot of new “social media stars”…and for people that are like me I think that it shows. I also think since I started early in pursuing my career that also sets me apart, because most people didn’t know what they wanted when they were teenagers. Something that is also a big part of my brand and who I am is being authentic, showing the good and bad as well as honesty. As far as how I got where I am, I think it has a lot to do with putting effort and having drive. In this industry, entertainment and social media, it’s something that can happen really fast or take a lot of time, But i’m sure you know the saying “it goes away as fast as it comes”, something along the lines of that. I definitely still have a long way to go and many goals to reach in order to get where I want to be, but I am proud of where I am and grateful. I’d like people to know that I not only am a creative and simply just do creative stuff, I also am passionate about bringing awareness to mental health because I struggle with pretty bad anxiety as well as depression. So I feel like I can share my experiences and struggles and hopefully help others. This plays into authenticity being important to me. People might see these great photos or videos but don’t know what might be going on off the camera. I just like to be honest about when i’m struggling and showing reality. Of course, there are things I do prefer to keep private. My overall goal is to connect to my supporters and help others!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m still getting familiar with the city to be honest! I don’t live directly in Houston or near it unfortunately. But I have to go to the city a lot for shoots and meetings! I have been to this really delicious and cute place called Snowy Village! It’s a shaved ice dessert place but they also have different fun teas!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would just like to thank anyone who has been supportive of me throughout my journey. It definitely can be difficult and uncertain at times. I appreciate any support or encouragement along the way! Thank you to anyone who is also contributing in helping me with building my brand, spreading my name, creating content, photoshoots…it is an amazing feeling to work with some awesome creatives in Houston!
