We had the good fortune of connecting with Cassie Collins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cassie, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
BAKING! Whenever I am down or feeling like I need a pick me up, I can always count on a sweet treat to do the job.
It is something I truly enjoy and embrace as more than “just a hobby”.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Marley’s Muffins all started from really me just CRAVING a banana chocolate chip muffin. But you can’t just walk into your local bakery and have a banana chocolate chip muffin.
You can have chocolate chip or banana nut.
So that is exactly what Marley’s Muffins is all about.
I want to bring unique flavors to muffins that you’re not going to find at local bakery, unique muffins that you can enjoy everyday!
I’ve never had any drive for school or for a basic 9-5 job and it was very hard for me to find what I love to do.
Somehow I always came back to baking and back to making those banana chocolate chip muffins for my friends and family.
I’ve learned to finally embrace it and to finally do something with it and with my life as well.
I want the world to know that you can find something you love to do and make it into something more and find community and passion within it.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting OKC for a week, I’d make sure they had an amazing time!
Day 1: We’d start the day with a delicious breakfast at Hatch Early Mood Food to kick things off right. Then, we’d head to the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum to pay our respects and learn about the history. For lunch, we’d grab some tasty BBQ at Iron Star Urban BBQ. In the evening, we’d catch a Thunder basketball game at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.
Day 2: We’d have a leisurely brunch at Kitchen No. 324 and then explore the vibrant Paseo Arts District. For dinner, we’d try the farm-to-table cuisine at Ludivine and end the night with drinks at O Bar on top of the Ambassador Hotel.
Day 3: We’d kick off the day with a hearty breakfast at Waffle Champion and then visit the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. Lunch would be at Nic’s Grill for their famous burgers. In the afternoon, we’d take a stroll through the Myriad Botanical Gardens. We’d finish the day with a delicious dinner at Mahogany Prime Steakhouse.
Day 4: We’d start with a quick breakfast at The Red Cup and then explore the historic Stockyards City. For lunch, we’d try the authentic Mexican food at Ted’s Café Escondido. In the evening, we’d enjoy a sunset walk along the Bricktown Canal and have dinner at Mickey Mantle’s Steakhouse.
Day 5: We’d have a cozy breakfast at Good Gravy! Diner and then visit the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. Lunch would be at Cattlemen’s Steakhouse for a true Western experience. In the afternoon, we’d take a cruise on the Oklahoma River. For dinner, we’d try the seafood at Pearl’s Oyster Bar.
Day 6: We’d start with a breakfast burrito at Big Truck Tacos and then visit the Science Museum Oklahoma for some interactive fun. Lunch would be at The Jones Assembly for a trendy dining experience. In the evening, we’d have a chill night at Bleu Garten, an outdoor food truck park with live music.
Day 7: For the last day, we’d have a farewell brunch at Neighborhood JAM and then spend the morning exploring the Oklahoma City Zoo. Before saying goodbye, we’d grab a coffee at Clarity Coffee
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would be no where without my Mom.
I have always struggled with finding my place in this crazy world that we live and she has always been there for me.
She has always supported me in everything that I do and every wild idea that I create.
I also want to thank my Trochtas Flowers family.
Without their support I’d have no where to sample my muffins or anyone to taste test them!
And of course I want to thank Marley.
She is truly the best dog I could ever ask for.
