We had the good fortune of connecting with Chenadra Washington and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chenadra, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is the combination of my faith and work. I am always challenging myself to think about what’s next and asking myself am I aligned to get there. Setting goals is only half of the equation; you must have an action plan.

Also, I remove the fear away from trying new things. I understand that every part of my journey will not be “comfortable.” Stagnation is something that I steer away from. Whether it’s mentally, spiritually, or even financially I am always looking for the opportunity to grow and evolve. I am a forever learner; there is always something to explore.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Black Orchids PR is a brand communication coaching and consulting firm. We specialize in helping our clients pitch themselves and strengthen their voices. We help our clients understand that activating their voices is the catalyst to flowing in authenticity and activating their power. Ultimately, we want our clients positioned for self-advocacy. Whether you are a career professional or building a business brand, Black Orchids PR is equipped to help you put your best foot forward and emerge from the shadows.

I have gotten to where I am today, by not only being consistent in my business but also investing in it. Investing time, energy, finances, and acquiring knowledge is something that I promised myself I would do to get my business off the ground and keep it running. It has not been easy, but it has been worth it. I am often faced with competing priorities; however, I am reminded of why I started the business and the commitment to reach my goals.
One of the most important things that I have learned is that entrepreneurship is not a straight line. You must be willing to pivot and also make tough decisions for the life of your business.

I want the world to know that this brand cares about the success of our clients. Separately, I strive to encourage people to live in their passion and be intentional about how and where they show up.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We all know that Houston has some of the best food to offer! I would recommend Rouxpour, Mala Sichuan, El Tiempo, and Uncle Julios. You must also check out the best Shipley’s in the city on the corner of Ella & 34th!

Discovery Green is one of the simple pleasures in Houston. With Houston being such a busy and crowded city, this provides a peaceful getaway in the middle of the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This shoutout is dedicated to my loving support team that has rallied around me. Building a business is not easy, but having people around you that encourage you and love you through it all makes a huge difference. To JJ, my grandparents, my parents, my sister, my aunt, and my best friend I love you and I am so grateful to have you. . Each of you have been here since the very beginning and continue to support me through every shift. Thank you for your love; your efforts never go unnoticed.

Special thanks to my son who manages to tell me that he loves me and that I am beautiful every day. These are small seeds that pack such heavy weight.

And to all my extended friends and family that encourage me, you too are appreciated.
