We had the good fortune of connecting with Chiquanda “CJ” Alston and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chiquanda “CJ”, what is the most important factor behind your success?
As a Money Coach, not only do I help individuals with their bottom line but I also bring awareness to individuals about their money blocks so that they can eradicate them. I help them understand their relationship with money and help them have the healthiest relationship with money. I help enable them to see their progress; where they started to where they need to be in order to create an optimal and profitable bottom line. Most of my clients are just starting a business or want to start a business. It’s important for them to develop good money habits so that they will be able to have longevity as a business. Most Accountants do not address the mindset but that is key. If we address the bottom line without proper mindset work, it will hinder the owner from being truly successful.
What should our readers know about your business?
I’m most proud of being providing results for my clients. Seeing my clients get that feeling of success when they have implemented the plan we created.
It has not been easy because most people have bad money habits and the challenge is taking them from consumers to entrepreneurs and investors.
I have overcome challenges by being open to pivot when life happens.
Along the way, what I have learned about my clients is that they really want help with their business but there are very few of us who actually serves the small business owner.
I want the world to know that with a good financial foundation, as well as partnering with a relentless Money Coach such as myself, you can succeed in all levels of business.
Also, I want people to know that Accountants doesn’t have to be staunch, stiff and stuffy! We can be Fun!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Dad was the beginning of my motivation to start a business. However, the reason I keep going and strive for excellence in my business endeavors are my (3) three children. My shout out is to: Alana 9, Warren 7 and Theron 5. This has not been an easy time for them but it is because of them that I have chosen to stick and stay with entrepreneurship.
It is the child-like faith and imagination that they have that inspires and motivates me. I want to leave a legacy for them so they too can showcase their gifts and talents to the world through entrepreneurship. All of them have a business waiting to be launched. This is motivational for me because I am a woman that was told that she could never have kids from the age of 19.
