Meet Corine Barnes Jamison | Clinical Mental Health Therapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Corine Barnes Jamison and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Corine, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Corine Logic’s. LLC provides unique mental services while utilizing principles of validity and skillful techniques to assist those who are in need. I came up with this business because of my personal trauma and lived experience in Compton, CA. My generational and environmental trauma provide the symptoms that I display today. My master’s in clinical Mental Health Counseling developed the skills to assist my personal disorders while supporting others.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My thought process is what sets me apart from others. I feel that I have the best attributes of a therapist by having both lived experience and education. My sense of humor also plays an amazing role with a lot of success and my ability to provide a safe space for anyone. I am proud of the curriculums and programs that I have been able to make for multiple programs who are in the violence intervention and prevention field. I have made a successfully reentry, outreach, victims support, case management, non-violence training, servant leadership, mindfulness and workforce development programs. I am currently providing successful trauma informed care training for medical residents at Peoria, IL University of Chicago College of Medicine. I have been able to raise awareness of Truma exposed community and how trauma informed care 4 Rs approach can assist with providing appropriate care for the clients they are currently serving.

I was able to be in the position that I am in today by being humble and focusing on the change that I am making in individuals’ lives instead of the compensation. I have conducted a lot of work for free that has opened doors to revenue that I would have never expected such as overseeing a construction business and now tapping into the energy efficiency industry. The number one thing that I would like the world to know is that Mental Health is important in all aspects of life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As a mother of an 18 year and a 4-year-old my best time consists of urban air game room, outside gun range and bar hopping down on the riverfront. I also love jazz and R&B, so I love going to concerts down at the city winner or just going out for drinks at Coopers Hawk. I know it sounds like a lot of my activities consist of drinking, but I really spend a lot of my time working on my brand and having get together at my home with my close friends.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My success comes from my hard work, dedication and resilience. My dad has played a huge role in my life by showing me what a man really looks like. He has been the sole provider for our entire family (wife and nine children). He has worked multiple jobs and started his own trucking business. His work ethics has shown me the difference between a boss vs employee and how to stay humble. The dedication that has been in stored in me over the last 10 to 20 years has a lot to do with my best friends and colleague Mrs. Deidra Harwell and Janesha Washington. Their commitment to her health, finances and family has shown me that quitting is not an option and how to prioritize my time. My support circle (Ashley Stewart, Sharda Wright, Sherelle Barnes, Joshua Barnes, Quinetta Johnson, Dr. Kametta Clark, Angie O, Tomeika & Eric Patton, Channel Barnes, Marrine Harden, Devon McNeil, Bertha Purnell, Lorraine Washington, Evita Hernadez, Lueshand Nunn, and Marshawn Jamison) increased my resilience when dealing with truamatic events in my life that I now teach others in need.
