We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Nakeia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m from Orlando, FL raised by a single mother. My upbringing from my mother impacted me majorly especially being such a creative person. She always taught me that I could do anything I put my mind to and that the sky wasn’t always the limit it was well beyond that. My mother taught me to be headstrong, independent and to always reach the top of everything I chose to do. I’m so grateful that she is my mother, she’s raised a successful black woman – me!
What should our readers know about your business?
I’m a Orlando freelance designer specializing in custom projects including | web design, logo creations, video editing, social media design/management, social media/resume/website revamp, marketing ideas, and much more… I literally consider myself the “Jill of all trades”! What sets me apart from others is the fact that freelance is a very over saturated market but when you put your own twist or signature on your work you stand out from everyone else. I’m most proud of the networking side of things, I’m meeting new people and also gaining clientele through word of mouth. I’ve gotten where I am today by working with people and showing off my talents through social media or on my website, my work literally speaks for itself. One of the major lessons I’ve learned is that sometimes there will be a ton of work and other times it will be very slow, but stay the course in spite of! I want the world to know that anything is attainable if you just start today and put yourself out there. If I could’ve told myself the same statement years ago, who knows how far I would’ve been. I don’t dwell on the past so for today (and for now on) I’m grateful that I’ve start started my business, and that I’m able to help make my clients creative ideas into a reality! ✨
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Did you know that Orlando (central Florida) is one of the top 10 cities that people like to visit?! You know why… it’s because we always have things to do. I honestly feel like someone that isn’t from here visiting for a week isn’t much time. Sunday we would go to brunch, there’s so many local good food spots. We’d then go to the farmers market to walk around the park, check out local vendors and support their businesses, have dinner at a place on the lake or check out a movie at Disney Springs. Monday we would go to a theme park, the ride waits are never long on these days so we hang out all day then go have dinner at a sushi spot or kick back at a local bar. Tuesday we can hit up another then park, have fun all day then later that evening go to a taco Tuesday event anywhere around town. Wednesday is a cool WineDown vibe so we would go shopping at the local malls or outlets, hang out and eat food anywhere on International Drive then hit up the bars in downtown Orlando for WineDown Wednesday’s! Thursday we can have fun at ICON park and check out the attractions, the Orlando eye Ferris wheel or the Madame Toussad’s wax museum along with other fun stuff like putt putt golfing or an escape room. Then have dinner at the Sugar factory! Friday we can hang out at the beach, we have a few of them around we can have a fun time there and eat on the pier having fresh seafood! Hang out at a few local bars as well and have an entire beach day. Saturday we will party like it’s 1999, at lounges clubs or bars until it’s time for you to leave! Lol. You’d never want to leave being here, trust me!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So I’ll shoutout my sister, Taneisha, CEO of SweetPetalsCupcakery, if not for her I wouldn’t know about your awesome publication! She deserves all the credit, we are both entrepreneurs with businesses that continue to flourish daily! I recognize her because she’s a hardworking mother that is breaking all of our generational censure to ensure that our family will be able to maintain a positive course into generational wealth & expertise for generations to come. She’s definitely my inspiration! Thanks sis for all your love and continued support.
