We had the good fortune of connecting with Nadine “The Native Bombshell” and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nadine, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
I think diligence has helped me be successful and has helped keep me on track and forward focused.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a recently semi-retired glam model turned photographer. As a model I’ve been featured on multiple covers and in over 18 magazines. With the desire to always “level up” I took my career to a new level when I decided to step out of the spotlight and start learning more behind the lens and how photography worked on the other side. Within 3 months of refocusing and learning photography my work was featured in 3 magazines. I’ve found it very beneficial as a photographer of over a year now to have a history of being model and the fact that I am a women. Majority of my clientele are females and it seems to be bring a certain level of comfort for the women I shoot. It has been a very VERY bumpy road getting to where I am now with multiple set backs including the Covid-19 pandemic and a very toxic situation I was in when I first was transitioning from modeling to photography. I have found those troublesome situations have only made me stronger though and has given me the additional drive and determination to become a better version of myself in not only my career but in life. Due to Covid-19 and social distancing my photography has certainly slowed down so I took that extra time to open up my own online store and I am now currently working on my own eyelash brand called “Mi Amor Lashes”. One thing I’ve learned along this journey with my career as an entrepreneur is never lose focus and just do what makes you happy. At the end of the day regardless of the career you have to stay grounded and keep yourself a priority regardless of what life throws at you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had company visiting for a week it would definitely be a fun trip. Besides taking them to any places they’ve “heard” of and on their list we’d definitely have to check out some visually stimulating places such as The Waterwall in the Galleria and The Graffiti Building. Texas being so well known for bbq, Corkscrew BBQ would be a definite dining experience after at day of shopping in Old Town Spring. I with any remaining time left on the trip would be left to visiting the art district and bouncing around a few of Houston’s known breweries.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I think my husband and children deserve all the credit when it comes to keeping me focused, motivated, and helping me to be as successful and motivated as I am. At the end of the day, weather it’s a good or bad day they are always there for me with either a pat on the back or a shoulder to cry on and I’m so grateful to have them in my corner.
