We had the good fortune of connecting with Destiny Lanay and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Destiny, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My mom has always told me that I have my dads hustle and ambitious spirit. I have always been a leader and working for someone else forever was never my end goal. I want to be able to move at my own pace and control my own narrative.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
It was definitely not easy. I’ve had to fight quite a few battles along the way. But to be able to say I own multiple businesses and help others with my businesses is a blessing for me. I’m not one of those that hides the resources. I try to put everything and everyone attached me in a better position. I own a trucking company. We not only have our own trucks but we allow up and coming individuals who do not have their own authority to run under our authority.
I am coowner of GirlBoss Suites Houston. We provide resources to help the next woman in business thrive. No matter if it’s financial resources, marketing, networking, pop ups, business classes, and whatever else helps the next woman win.
I have a Freedom planner that is in Amazon and Walmart online.
The Destiny Lanay brand is simply an empire being built one step at a time and setting others up as well for the same.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Whew…. In HTX Of course check out any and all events at GirlBoss Suites (duh no brainer)…
Me and my circle we eats.
Crawfish season you will find us Bayou Seafood, Bluewater Seafood, Crab Station, and newly adopted Ador.
We don’t really do packed out clubs. Take us to a lounge with drinks, nice music, seats lol, hookah and we are GOODT!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m a very strong person and rarely look for people. With that being said, There are a few people who I want to dedicate my shoutout too. I won’t name them by name because the faithful few KNOW who they are. They know who pour into me daily. They know who checks on me daily. They know who supports any and everything I have going. They know who puts my name in rooms that I’m not even in. They know who I can call when I need them. They know who all were by my very side when I needed them most.
