We had the good fortune of connecting with Destiny Pierre and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Destiny, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Cocoandeats is more of a hobby than I would say business (although it has the potential to become one). Cocoandeats is a brand, it’s me. What made me start the page was my love for going out to eat and people always asking me “where is this place?”, or receiving dms like “that looks good, where that’s at?”, and even being told “you always eating good”. Since young my parents got me accustomed to going out and trying new foods, so it stuck with me into my adult life. I take pride in eating GREAT.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Key lessons I’ve learned is that starting is easy, staying consistent is the hard part. Being creative while being authentically you is what matters the most. Doesn’t matter if there’s multiple people doing the same thing, because no one will do it like you. The world should know that one day I hope I get paid to eat, I love sharing places to eat it fulfills me because it’s my hobby aside from dealing with the real world. What makes me the proudest is when I post places and the restaurants interact with my posts.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
New York City the city that never sleeps! Depending on what they like to eat some of my favorite places The boil, Aj’s Sushi & Cajun Seafood, Pio Pio, Gritos Mexican food, and Jasmine’s Caribbean Cuisine to name a few. The meat packing district has some great eats as well nightlife. Places to check out would be downtown areas like the Hudson yards, Summit one vanderbilt, soho, L.E.S.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shoutout my parents for making sure I always ate well and took pleasure in always taking me to breakfast, lunch, and dinner dates. Big or small we ate good and tried new things.
