We had the good fortune of connecting with Diana-Waleska Mauricio-Eskander and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diana-Waleska, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As Indigenous womxn, Marina and I and witnessed/experienced the lack of resources and support there was available to new business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs, more specifically for womxn-owned and people of color.

Prior to creating Rooted Resolutions with my wife, we independently worked as business development and DEI strategic consultants. It was our own journeys and professional experiences that propelled us to start a business development and resource hub. We wanted to share our inside knowledge to building sustainable business systems and scalable designs with an affordable price tag.

Our prolific network of colleagues and partnerships makes us a hub where people can seek specific help and if we can’t offer it, we know someone who does.

What should our readers know about your business?
Rooted Resolutions is a one stop shop for all your business needs. From seed to sale, we equip new and seasoned entrepreneurs with strategic operations, systems, branding, marketing, and web design.

The best part about Rooted is getting to witness amazing projects or ideas flourish into successful businesses or organizations. We work with our clients closely which allows us to educate and train them to maintain their autonomy and ownership of their business ideas and goals.

Along the way there have been challenges. One of the biggest lessons I learned along the way was learning how to be uncomfortable with uncertainty. As business owners we try to have control over everything, which is a good thing, but often times it doesn’t leave room for the unknown or pivots. Be open to things going differently and learn how to make the most out of each experience.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Shaved ice, rotating sushi, and Korean corn dogs in Los Angeles! I currently live in Baja California so fried fish and tacos!

I love experiencing new things with friends and family so if my best friend was visiting the area we would likely try something new and eat tons of food!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The Small Business Tips (SBT) Collective deserves a huge shoutout for offering AMAZING educational content and encouragement for entrepreneurs/ small to medium sized businesses.

They are regularly posting and sharing extremely valuable content from tips to tools to community spaces!
