We had the good fortune of connecting with DJ Gunzee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DJ, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
To be honest, I started this mainly because of the passion I have for music. Also, knowing I’m able to give people joy and give them a great experience by being in control of the mix (that I knew I could do well) was another reason why I started this. Of course I wouldn’t take out the fact that it was also for financial independence/freedom. I also realized I could empower others if I am empowered myself

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’d say my versatility is what sets me apart. The fact that I’m able to cater to different age groups, playing different genres and making sure they have a great time.

I’m proud of the fact that i’m able to make a living doing what I LOVE. I’m proud of myself for not giving up on the grind even when things weren’t going as planned and im definitely excited for the future. Its only up from here!

I got to where I’m at today by believing in the vision i had and taking the steps to achieve it. Most times I had to break it down into little steps, Taking it one day at a time. Of cos it wasn’t and still not easy. I take a break every now and then when I get overwhelmed. Do some other fun stuff and refresh. But Idont take too long to get back to work and keep pushing.

Being inconsitent is like taking ten steps forward and twenty steps backward. That’s one of the few lessons I’ve learned along the way. It is very easy to get complacent after a few wins..but you have to constantly remind yourself of where you are going and thework you know you needto put in to achieve that. Lastly, there is no such thing as a perfect time. Just do it and get better along the way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
