We had the good fortune of connecting with Shamin Patel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shamin, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It was intimidating but having my end goal in mind really helped destress the process. It is scary not knowing where your customers are going to come from but I had to be patient and just keep working even if I was having a bad day. In Real Estate, it takes time to generate enough business to have steady income and knowing that made me work harder every single day because I needed to reach that level of steady commission income quickly.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
One thing that sets my business apart from other Realtors is that I am still young and grinding. I personally deal with my clients directly and handle my clients with proper care. When I started 3 years ago, I had no clue what I was doing. I did not know how to answer client’s phone calls or show homes but as time went on and I got more experience, it became easier. Last year, I got awarded #1 in most closed units and #2 in Closed Gross Commission Income. It took so much work to get here. No transaction in Real Estate is the same and every transaction has some kind of issues so I had to learn quickly how to problem solve. My brand “Modern Living HTX” is based out of Houston, TX. We handle everything from helping people get a mortgage, showing homes, submitting offers, and getting them moved into the home of their dreams, all while developing a close relationship with our clients. We not only service our clients during the transaction process but also continue to service them after they move in! We care about our clients!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Some of my favorite spots in the city include Memorial park, Sugar Land Town Center, Buffalo Bayou, and Citycentre. When I am not working, I love to take my bike and ride through the dirt trails of Memorial Park. Also, some cool bars I have been to include, Axelrad Beer Garden, Bakers Street Pub, Big Ben Tavern, Whiskey Cake, and Little Woodrows. Houston has plenty of amazing restaurants that I love eating at such as Gyu-kaku, Berry Hill, Morton’s Steakhouse, Fogo de Chao, Del Frisco’s Steakhouse, and Chama Gaucha.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shoutout to Keller Williams Southwest for providing me the best training and helping me throughout the transactions. Also, I’d like to give a shoutout to Roman Rodriguez with Green Residential for helping me grow my business. He has been extremely supportive and always keeps me calm and collected in the business.
