We had the good fortune of connecting with Maria Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maria, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My first thought was “I get to do something I love and people are going to pay me for it?
I have been planning events to celebrate friends and families for years. It only took one person to approach me to do an event for her for me to realize this is what I was destined to do.
I was destined to help people celebrate life!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I think my clients love me because I’m honest. I listen to their vision and take it to another level.
Was it easy? Heck no! I was getting into a good groove, building clientele and BOOM we had a pandemic! And just when I think it’s safe to start taking clients again, we get another variant that threatens to shut down the world again.
The pandemic has by far been the largest obstacle I’ve faced yet. When it hit, I had three brides who had to cancel their initial wedding plans. But I worked with them to create a beautiful replacement. I simply reminded them it’s about the love not the party.
The biggest lesson that I’ve learned is that love always wins. It can even beat out a global pandemic!
I want the world to know that Center of Attention is just about weddings. It’s about celebrating all of life’s moments. Whether it’s a girls or guys trip, baby shower, or a first day and you want to really impress the other person. Every moment in life should be memorable and you should always be the center of attention.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would have to go to Hyde park area and visit the Meat Market. There’s a dress code, so you have to dress to impress. But be ready to be dazzled from beginning to end. We also have to go to downtown and take a water boat to all of the key spots – Armature Works, Tampa Park and down by the Convention Center. We have to check out Ybor city, enjoy a hand rolled cigar and eat at Columbia Resturant. For dessert, we’d have to stop by Cake Drip for a tour or The dessert room at Berns. And to relax, we could spend some time at Top Golf where the food is delicious, the drinks are tasty and the view is nice!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Wow! I wouldn’t be where I am without my friends and family spreading the word, giving me opportunities and telling everyone who would listen to use my services.
