Meet Donna R | Owner & Founder of CoffeeStix

We had the good fortune of connecting with Donna R and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Donna, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My initial thought process behind starting CoffeeStix was How do I continue to make my Granny proud. She was there with me when I first presented the idea to family and close friends. She whispered into my now business partners ear that day and told her that CoffeeStix was going to be something special and that she was very proud of me. She passed away a few months later so my mission has been to continue to make her proud.
Secondly, I told myself that I had to build a legacy to leave my daughters so they wouldn’t have to struggle to make ends meet. They could live a comfortable life while blessing the community with jobs, housing communities and having a sense of accomplishment and purpose.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Pharmacy Technician by trade and also a High School Pharmacy instructor.
I had to overcome some obstacles in the past, but ultimately fought for myself and received my technician certification which led to multiple teaching positions including being a college professor. I learned to persevere. When my daughter was 8 she said something very profound. I was having a hard day and was even contemplating quitting. She must have sensed something was wrong because she told me… Mommy you gotta persevere. I said what does that mean and she said to keep going no matter how tough things are. Keep pushing and don’t give up.
CoffeeStix has persevered through tough battles and even tougher scenarios to keep us afloat, but we have and will continue to PERSEVERE! CoffeeStix…leaving a legacy, one stix at a time.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Sunday- arrival relax grab some Cracker Barrel and watch the Texans play
Monday- Benihana for Happy Hour
Tuesday- Reel Luxury Cinema for Dinner and a movie
Wednesday- Tex Orleans for peel and eat shrimp, bowling and pool at Dave and Busters
Thursday- Kim Son for lunch and pictures at the graffiti wall
Friday- El Refu for dinner and music
Sunday- Airport drop off

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out my business partner Lynn. She has been my right hand gal since day one helping in any way needed. I truly appreciate her for always being there and sharing my vision which is now our vision.
To my family Kady, Khloe, and Rod-Thank you all for your help and allowing me the opportunity to make sacrifices. CoffeeStix will be a legend and I have you 3 to thank.
Lastly, to Uncle Keithy, Thank you for your motivating, charming, and challenging mindset. You push me to be better. Most times I don’t like it, but I love you for it.
