Meet Dr. Destiny Diggs | Founder, President & CEO

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Destiny Diggs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Destiny, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My decision to start my own businesses came from recognizing a gap and feeling a responsibility to help people step fully into their purpose. I’ve always believed that success should not feel out of reach simply because someone lacks access, mentorship, or opportunity.
In 2016, I launched YoungBlackSuccessful, LLC with the goal of helping innovative young adults of color break through professional and financial ceilings. The vision was to create a space where young people could gain not only access to opportunities such as internships, job fairs, lectures, and seminars, but also the knowledge and confidence to create opportunities for themselves. Through the support of success coaches and mentors, the mission was to equip them with the tools needed to navigate their desired fields, captivate game-changing opportunities, dominate the workforce, and position themselves ahead of the curve. At its core, YoungBlackSuccessful was built on the belief that success already lives inside each individual—the outcome is determined by how boldly they pursue it.
That same passion for empowering people eventually led me to launch D’Garia Music Agency, an entity of D’Garia Music Group Inc. Through my years working in radio and the music industry, I saw how many talented artists struggled to gain momentum because they lacked the right strategy, representation, or industry access. I created D’Garia Music Agency to become the new generation’s plug for building sustainable music careers and lasting legacies. As a full-service organization, we advocate for artists through management, strategic brand development, production, distribution, radio servicing, and more—working alongside some of the industry’s most trusted and decorated professionals.
At the heart of both businesses is the same mission: to push people into their purpose. Whether it’s a young professional stepping into their career or an artist building a legacy through music, my goal is to ensure that everyone who comes in contact with our work leaves empowered, equipped, and ready to make it happen.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
After nearly 15 years in gospel radio and the music industry—half of my life—I’ve had the opportunity to learn the business from the inside out. Those years gave me a front-row seat to how the industry moves, the challenges artists face, and the importance of strategy, relationships, and integrity. That experience ultimately led me to launch D’Garia Music Agency, where my mission is to help artists navigate the industry with wisdom, structure, and momentum. It definitely hasn’t been easy. Being a young woman in a male-driven industry comes with its own set of challenges. There are moments where you have to prove yourself more than once, stand firm in your knowledge, and continue to show up even when the road isn’t clear. But with God, faith, favor, grit, and the knowledge I’ve gained along the way, I continue to show up and do the work every day.
One of the ways I’ve overcome challenges is by learning not to take everything personally. In this industry, people are navigating their own pressures and circumstances, so I’ve learned to meet people where they are. I’ve also learned the importance of recognizing when a season has come to an end and having the wisdom and courage to move forward when it’s time.
Along the way, I’ve learned that relationships matter, integrity matters, and preparation matters. Talent alone is not enough—you have to understand strategy, timing, and positioning. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that purpose requires perseverance.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that many artists already have the talent. What they often need is a trusted and reputable voice that understands how to navigate this tough but rewarding music industry. That’s what D’Garia Music Agency exists to provide. We equip artists with the right tools and help them gain even more tools for their tool belt through management, strategic brand development, plug consulting, production, distribution, and radio servicing—so they’re not just chasing moments, but building sustainable careers.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to Houston for a week, I’d make sure they experienced the city the way I do—through great food, fun experiences, and the vibrant culture that makes Houston so special.
To kick the trip off, I’d start with something creative like the Balloon Museum. It’s colorful, interactive, and such a fun way to step into a world of art and imagination. After that, we’d head over to Love & Make to create our own custom fragrances. It’s a unique experience and a great souvenir to take home.
Of course, Houston has an amazing food scene, and as a foodie I would make sure we ate our way through the city. Some must-stops would include Esther’s Cajun Cafe & Soul Food and Jordyn’s Soul Cafe for incredible soul food. For a chic dining experience we’d visit Crave Fusion Bistro, FRNDS Restaurant & Lounge, and The Warwick. I’d also take them downtown to the Downtown Aquarium Houston for the “Under the Sea” dinner experience—it’s such a fun atmosphere dining surrounded by aquatic life. Other great spots on the list would include Victory Restaurant & Lounge, Sixty Vines, and of course a classic Houston favorite, Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen.
For entertainment and adventure, we’d definitely go ATV riding for some adrenaline, visit Andretti Indoor Karting & Games for racing and games, and spend some time outdoors at Go Ape Zipline & Adventure Park. One evening we’d also stop by Kulture to enjoy live music and soak in the creative energy of the city.
Of course, a Houston trip wouldn’t be complete without a little shopping. We’d spend a day exploring The Woodlands and the iconic The Galleria Houston, which has everything from luxury shopping to great restaurants.
By the end of the week, they would have experienced Houston the way it’s meant to be experienced—through its creativity, culture, adventure, and most importantly, its incredible food scene. Houston is one of those cities where there’s always something exciting happening, and I’d want them to leave already planning their next trip back.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents are truly the real MVPs behind everything I’ve been able to accomplish. My father introduced me to the music industry at a very young age. I remember being a little girl sitting in the studio with him until 4 a.m.—simply because I’m a daddy’s girl and I wanted to spend every moment I could with him. Some of my earliest memories are being backstage at concerts and sitting in studio sessions with some of the most treasured voices in gospel music. Those moments didn’t just create memories—they planted seeds.
It was also my father who introduced me to gospel radio and helped open the door for many of the connections that would shape the beginning of my radio career nearly 15 years ago. Watching his work ethic and passion for music gave me a front-row seat to what purpose and dedication truly look like.
And then there’s my mom—the quiet strength that holds it all together. She keeps me grounded and is the calm in the midst of the demanding schedules my father and I often carry. She covers me in prayer and remains my safe place when the industry gets loud and overwhelming. Her presence reminds me who I am beyond the titles and responsibilities.
Truthfully, my father and I wouldn’t be able to do what we do without my mom. She is the foundation that keeps our family centered, and her love, wisdom, and prayers are a huge part of why I’m able to walk confidently in the work I do today.
