We had the good fortune of connecting with Eddie Jackson Jr. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eddie, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When i think about risks, I think about stepping out of this box I feel like ive been put inside as an artist. Risks can be scary at times, but personally, that’s how i’ve been able to do things i’ve never thought I was able to do this early on in my life (i’m only twenty four lol)
Taking risks have gotten me so many opportunities, just out of determination to be successful and being able to finally to do what I love, and to look back at everything i’ve had to overcome in order for that to happen. Sometimes, no lie, it has been a scary feeling, but you can not let fear or anxiety get the best of you. I struggle with anxiety and having a fear of the “what ifs”, Taking risks are good if you want to be successful and just trying new things. My advice to my own self is to always take risks, no matter the outcome, great things will happen!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is inspired from the 70’s, 90’s, early 2000’s and syfy-ish futuristic vintage vibes (a weird combination) but yes! Anything with that aesthetic, i’ve always been obsessed with the late 90’s and early 2000’s, anyway I can incorporate that aesthetic into my art, I will do that!
I’m proud of how “very on brand” and consistent i’ve been since 2018. I’m excited to see what my little brain is gonna come up with next, i’m always amused by my artwork, and always very moved by what i can come up with, im iconic and a young legend in the making, period.
I got into art when I was six years old, OMG! i want to also shoutout my first grade teacher Mrs. Morgan! I don’t know how i forgot to include her! Thanks to her!
It hasn’t always been easy, although i’ve always had that emotional support from family and friends growing up.
I’ve learned to always step out on faith, and if you’re ever feeling down, or you’re ever feeling like you can’t do it, you CAN!
Whenever you’re in the darkness and just feel like you can’t pull yourself from it, create from that place and put your emotions into your artwork, just like a singer, artist are always the same with artwork. We express our emotions and feelings as well.
I want the world to know that i’m self made, i come from a small city, I love art with all of my heart, that’s honestly all i know. I’ve never experienced to grow as fast as i did, because when I started i wasn’t looking for anyone to like what I do or whatever. I’m forever grateful for the experience and everything i’ve accomplished so far, and thank you to everything again for supporting me, I promise to keep going and I will not disappoint.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well first, thank you for shoutout series for this amazing opportunity. Okay now, of course i wanna thank the man above. I will forever be grateful for my talents. I wanna take my mama Mrs. Ca’Sandra Hill (the queen) , i want to thank my bestfriends Randy and Demonta for putting up with me and all of my shenanigans lol. They know my heart, bless them! I also want to thank any and everyone who has ever supported me and has been following me through my journey, im forever grateful and humbly appreciative for it all!
