We had the good fortune of connecting with Nico Jose and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nico, how do you think about risk?
The risks I have taken in pursuit of my vision, have always been a leap of faith towards the end result. Involving different emotions such has fear and doubt at times. When you’re thinking about taking chances to get ahead look at all your options to determine if it’s one worth taking. Think and feel positive about the choice your making. You need to believe in that move more than anyone else. Risk are what they are, they can go either way. I recommend taking advantage of any risk when there is a great opportunity for you to get closer to your desired goal. Risk are beneficial when they work of course, but if it doesn’t then you should take it as a paid lesson not a loss. Your perspective is everything!

What should our readers know about your business?
I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life as far as a career went. I decided to go to Acers Home College of Barber Design. I originally thought it would be a fall back plan I was wrong. I became passionate about my craft enjoying meeting new people putting a smile on their face with a fresh haircut was satisfying. I learned over the twenty one years that I’ve been a entrepreneur/barber you have to find your own lane and tap into it. Find people to serve what you offer don’t worry about what the rest of the world is doing. Throughout the years I’ve experienced some lows that made me want to give up especially financially. At least for my story being broke has been part of the process of my success. Everyone should embrace the hard times because they are what build you to be stronger as you develop. I’m currently on the brink of launching my product line “NICO JOSE” it’s definitely been a journey. My product line consists of a shampoo, conditioner, hair elixir oil and pomade. Any road to success will throw curveballs and challenges at you so don’t get discouraged expect them to come and handle them when they do. Being patient and persistent has been key. The best advice is to never stop don’t give up keep believing and taking action. Each step of progress is a step closer to where you want to be. Don’t listen or talk to people that are negative about what your doing. Be selective about who you share your dreams and vision with and treat it like it’s already what you want it to be.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I thank god for all the accomplishments in my life and for the people he’s placed around me. My mom always told me I could do anything I put my mind to and that always stuck with me. My dad kept his head held high and provided for us no matter what was going on. Kalief Powers the owner of A-1 Barbershop has seen me grow and given me great advice and guidance over the years. Mike Green was not only an inspiration to me that I could accomplish my goals, but poured out wonderful encouragement. Sean Williams displayed a powerful work ethic and drive with a go get it and make it happen at all cost attitude that I absorbed. Cash Jundi helped me to be more open minded and look at things from a different perspective with a positive attitude. These are a few from a group of people I chose to pattern myself after to get where I am. I could go on, and those who I did not mention know who they are because I’ve given thanks and showed gratitude to them personally.
