We had the good fortune of connecting with Elena Mileva-Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elena, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I had to make is to leave a secure job that offered benefits and decent pay, to pursue my dream
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a self taught needle felting artist. I started needle felting as a hobby and I turned it into a full time job after leaving my corporate job. At first it wasn’t easy because I didn’t know how people would respond to my creations. I signed up for every craft show I could the first year to find my customer and just to get my name out there. What sets me apart from other needle felting artist is that I add my own spin and give personality to my creations. My main goal is to make people laugh with my work, or at least smile.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my best friend to visit Niagara Falls, go shopping at local stores and visit my store where we carry mostly local artists, . Definitely go out to eat at Sato Ramen, Webster Bistro, New Jewel of India, Daniela, and of course get some Buffalo wings.
Go out for bubble tea at 716 Pulp Cafe, get cocktails at Waxlight .
Visit the Frank Loyd house, the Birchfield Art Museum.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Ii couldn’t have followed my dream if it wasn’t for my supportive husband Josh Anderson.
