We had the good fortune of connecting with Elly Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elly , is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I think the biggest factor for me and the success I have had with my brand is staying true to myself and my convictions. I know my WHY, WHAT and HOW. And it’s always something I go back to when making important decisions. Why am I doing this, What am I doing, and how am I going to do this.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Uptown with Elly Brown was founded in 2014 as a way to encourage and uplift women of all walks in life. The demands of motherhood can lead us to feel overwhelmed and lonely. And at Uptown, I want women to know that you shouldn’t have to live life alone, nor sacrifice your style because you’re a mother. I have been blogging now for 6 years, and it’s been a journey, it’s had it’s ups and downs, but it has been an incredible journey! There are many influencers out there now, and I think the biggest struggle is setting yourself apart, and finding your voice in the sea of influencers. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to remember why I am doing what I am doing. I have learned if I lose site of that, I make the wrong choices when it comes to my brand.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorites spots in Houston are: Tiny’s Boxwood and Steak 48. I Love visiting ROD area.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Lilly from Daily Craving. She has always been someone who tells it to me straight! Her friendship means so much to me!
