We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Boyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emily, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I personally thought it would be a fun and adventurous task. I love photography and I have a passion for working with dogs – it just so happened that I found a way to mix the two! Although my “Doggo Instagram blog” is just a hobby, it allows me to let my creativity flow.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My Instagram started out as a hobby and through the years grew to so much more. I’m able to promote local businesses, share rescue dogs that are in need and post pictures that bring me and others joy! I’ve learned that it’s important to promote what you believe in and what you’re passionate about. I would hope that those who visit the houston doggo pics would smirk from the smiling faces and enjoy the stories told from the dogs I meet.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would most likely take them to a dog friendly bar or restaurant. I’ve found a lot of ideas and suggestions through friends I have on my houstondoggopics Instagram. There’s so many fun places to visit in houston with your furry friend!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Ive volunteered at many local animal rescues, but one stuck out to me most of all – BARC animal shelter. Through my volunteer work, I practiced photography and fell in love with it. The best part is, animals were getting adopted and fostered through my posts. It was amazing! I currently work closely with Rescued Pets Movement and Special pals in hopes to help more animals by sharing their stories through my Instagram, Houston Doggo Pics.
