We had the good fortune of connecting with FaLishia C. Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi FaLishia C., what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have never been an Employee. I started selling my library books out of my window for $0.25 when I was in 4th grade. I want to build a legacy, while helping other people and having the freedom to enjoy my life..my way.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I own a Tax Business that specializes in tax preparation, maximum refunds, new business setup, and tax classes for those interested in the field. I am very excited to add Tax Resolution as of November 2021. There were a lot of small steps that continue to make me who I am today. I had some big fails and some grand successes. It all equals to a step forward.
I learned to just do it. You can’t grow or plan from nothing.
I want to World to know that I was here, I loved. I felt. I am nothing without the one that created me.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Houston is a grand place to be. Anything with friends/family, giggles, and good food is worth the night out. I love live music so I would have to say Phil & Derek’s, Reggae Hut, Prospect Park, or any BBQ stand in Acres Home is where I try to hang out. Then they have to relax on Sunday Funday at Lilly & Bloom’s for happy hour or ride out to any of the Galveston Beaches.
Lastly, a girls’ evening in, and invite over Autumn’s Creations for some wine and canvas painting. So many things to do….so I would definitely suggest a return visit!!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family is a huge part of who I am. My Mother/Father made me feel like I could be anything. My Husband made my put up or shut up. My children and my grandchild make me look at my legacy in a different way; to add kindness and love to everything that I do. My brothers, cousins, and friends remind me to live this life everyday, in accountability and support.
