Meet Genaro Garcia Jr | The Man with the Antidote & Wardrobe Facilitator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Genaro Garcia Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Genaro, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Menswear has always come natural to me, it’s something I’ve always enjoyed. I have always received compliments from family, friends, even from previous clients during my stint at the Men’s Wearhouse. During my time at the Men’s Wearhouse I gained an abundance of valuable knowledge in formal wear, business wear, and casual wear. In addition, I was taught the importance of presentation structure. Above all else, it helped me realized that this was more than a hobby, it was one of my passions. My purpose and thought process behind starting my own business is to continue assisting men facilitate their wardrobe needs, in hopes of my clients to find appreciation for menswear, its importance, and as a confidence booster. All while creating and inspiring well put together outfits for their daily lifestyles/events. As the Man with the Antidote, I take value in acquiring the best-in-class prices while staying up to date on menswear, as a modern gentleman should.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always been drawn to jobs that value customer service, which is why I take pride in providing the best in all I do. I’ve been in the healthcare industry going on 5 years now, my priority is my patients and making sure they are getting the best care I can provide. Going above and beyond is the goal and receiving positive feedback from them solidifies why I chose to do what I do and only pushes me harder. Knowing that I was able to touch someone’s life and provide excellent care for them at the end of my shift means the world. This transitions over to my business because just as I care for my patients, I also care for my clients. I want to see the joy in their faces when they see what I’ve created for them, the excitement in knowing that they can also ”pull off that outfit”, and over all I want them to be comfortable in their wardrobe and the care I was able to provide while I was working with them. Everyone deserves to feel great about themselves.

I’m typically not the type to take risks, so this was definitely not easy. I’ve had many setbacks in my life that have discouraged me, mainly due to risks I took that didn’t work out in my favor. When the idea first came to mind, I was scared about what others might think, or better yet, the thought of my idea being ludicrous. I pushed my fear aside and with prayer and encouragement from family and friends, I decided to take a leap of faith. Although at first, we may not think so, I believe risk is essential, both for personal and professional growth. Even after experiencing those setbacks, the lessons learned from those risks I once took have led me to believe that I can achieve anything. Same goes for anyone that has contemplated doing something for themselves that will bring joy to their lives and others. Just do it, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain, even if what we gain are life lessons.

Although I am in the early stages of establishing my brand and the success that will follow, I created this page to facilitate your wardrobe needs. whether you’re looking to revamp or rejuvenate your wardrobe, update your work lifestyle attire, in need of putting together an outfit for that special event, or simply seeking menswear tips, I’m your man, The Man with the Antidote.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The ideal itinerary, wow, that’s tough! Houston is amazing and continuously growing, but here we go!

Houston’s food scene is crazyyyy, and extremely diverse so food wise I’d say dinner at Ninja Ramen, I love me some Ramen! Other favorite and notable places would be Top Sushi, Local Poke, coffee and pastries at Day 6 Coffee Co, and a definite must, a Houston tour de taco trucks! Because you know Houston is known for its amazing taco trucks.

The night scene is just like the food, diverse and electric. Since I’m a laid-back guy, we would head to EADO and check out some of their laid-back outdoor patio bars or visit some local Houston breweries, they never miss! On an evening when I’m feeling a tad sophisticated, Permission cocktail bar would be a must to take my visitor.

I’m a huge Houston sports fan (GO Rockets, Astros, Texans, & Dynamo!) so a sporting event would be a must. Other than that, hanging out/riding bikes near Discovery Green or at Buffalo Bayou would be ideal to enjoy some nice Houston heat with views!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my family, close friends, and the person that gave me the extra jolt and boost of confidence that I needed to get this going, my significant other. These people played a significant part in the reason why I chose to follow my passion. I am forever grateful.
