We had the good fortune of connecting with Pamela M. Sims and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Pamela M., what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I worked for a number of retail companies, where I started in entry level positions and ended in up management, for about 12 years. Then I worked in inside sales for Parker Hannifin, until I got married. I knew when I left that job, due to me being pregnant, that I would never work for ANYONE else. I love the kitchen, I love baking. After hearing a message given by my former pastor, I thought, “Why not start a business doing something I love?” That love for baking turned into a passion to serve, and help people create some of the sweetest memories. Whether it was gender reveals, birthdays, weddings, graduations, anniversaries, or just something for the dinner table, I was a part of their lives and they were a part of mines. I wanted them to experience planning their celebrations, without the stress. Assisting them with making informed decisions, ensuring the success of their event. In some cases, even saving them money or getting them “more bang for their buck”. A lot of my clients became more like family.
When I got into real estate, I wanted to bring that same heart, the same vision. I want to help people have a positive “memory making” experience while buying or selling real estate. Help them make fully informed decisions, that result in them finding that place that they can call home. I’ve come to understand that successful entrepreneurship requires you to have a heart of service. Yes, you need the knowledge required for you field, but good customer service says, “I see you. I hear you. I understand you. I am here to serve. And with the things you request, or go through, that may come with challenges, I care enough to share my knowledge so that you can make an informed decision. I’ve got your back.
I became a businesswoman because I love people, and I want to help people. Where professionals failed me in the past, I want to help others succeed. I want to see them smile with satisfaction. I’m here to serve.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
This housing market is unique, intense, and challenging, for buyers especially. The temptation to go it alone is strong. People on both sides of the equation think they can save money by doing it all themselves. Hiring an experienced Realtor can be a smart financial decision. When you start working with a Realtor, his or her first step should be to educate you. What are the market trends? What’s selling (or what’s not)? The volatility of today’s market means that circumstances are changing on a daily basis. A good Realtor keeps up with trends, prices, and regulations. He or she knows how much of that you need to know and keeps you informed. When the actual purchase process begins, the Realtor will guide you through the offers received, counter-offers, and the fine points of negotiating that can add dollars to your bottom line. A Realtor is a trained negotiator, who knows the territory and sees things differently, including the house. For example, if you’re selling, the Realtor will advise you how to maximize your home’s potential with a coat of paint, a vase of flowers, or a bit of landscaping. If you’re buying, the Realtor may help you see the potential in a bargain of a house. In either situation, the advice of a good Realtor can put extra dollars in your pocket. And aside from understanding real estate language, your realtor puts YOU first. We pledge ourselves to protect and promote the interests of our clients.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Houston is such a huge, and diverse city. It offers so much from great food to cultural experiences. One of my family’s favorite burger places is The Original Shack Burger Resort on Cypress Rosehill Road in Cypress. Their burger are unique, juicy, and packed with flavor. For good barbeque, the way it’s suppose to be done, you’ve got to go to Brook’s BBQ. It is a food truck at the corner of Barker Cypress and FM529, owned by Mr. Trent Brooks. Trent Brooks is a BBQ Boss with his grilling skills. From his brisket sandwiches to smoked oxtails or lobster tails, I promise you’ll be back for more. For Asian food, we were just introduced to Jinya, and I’ll just say I’m hooked.
If it’s a date night, it’s Fadi’s or Eddie V’s and a good movie at The Cut! movie theatre. And if it’s night as a family it’s Top Golf, bowling, Andretti’s, or an Escape Room.
There’s shopping, Discovery Green, museums, great food, Kemah Boardwalk, Towne Lake Boardwalk, China Town, drive in movie theatres, Turkey Leg Hut and then there is Austin! But that’s for another time. Lol!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I give all glory to God, my Heavenly Father, for the life I have. I’m so grateful for His loving kindness, for his mercy, and grace. He has been my Strength, Way Maker, Miracle Worker, Promise Keeper, Healer, Restorer, Redeemer, my Light in the darkness. He has never abandoned me, loved me in spite of my weakness or faults, and forgiven me. I can’t do this life without Him.
My husband, WOW…. this man has supported me, without hesitation, in every dream or desire I’ve had since the day I married him. He covers me daily in his prayers, and provides strength and safety in his arms. He makes me laugh, he’s my partner and best friend. He keeps me focused and inspires me, hold me accountable. Being with him, makes me want to be my best with Him.
My kids, my heartbeats, bring me laughter, make me proud, and are so encouraging. They remind me constantly that I can do this. Looking at them, watching me, motivates me to be the best version of myself so that they will know, and I know they can be. I want them to know they can do anything they set their minds to…no matter their age. NO LIMITS!!
My parents taught me how to see myself through God’s eyes, how to be independent, and trust Him. They taught me His heartbeat is people and we should see people through His eyes and love them. I am who I am, because of them. I could not have asked for better parents.
The Adolph Group powered by Keller Williams Signature, is a team of real estate professionals that I am proud to call family. We laugh together, challenge one another, inspired each other, help one another, and we succeed together. As a team, the knowledge, drive, motivation, focus, and desire to serve people is second to none. When you hire ONE of us as an agent, you get the support of an entire team. And we work together so well.
Shout out to everyone above that I mentioned, to the friends and family that I didn’t mention, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I heard someone say, “Show me your friends, and I’ll show you where you will be in the next 5 years”. It matters who you surround yourself with. I believe my best days are just ahead of me.
