Meet Geraldine Similien | Mediapreneur/ Muse & Educator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Geraldine Similien and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Geraldine, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“I am growing and I am going at my own pace.” This here is my favorite line of affirmation because everybody is their own person. Society portrays this image where everyone should be at a certain place in life at a certain age and that isn’t entirely true. We all move differently, but I believe with time, commitment, and hard work you grow. I believe if you focus on self love and what you can do to be better in life then you start to develop that momentum and mindset and aspire to want better opportunities and personal growth. When it’s carried out at your own pace it’s much more achievable, and a great investment in yourself!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Besides being a model, I am a full time educator working in the special education department. I also work part-time as a home therapist and I am currently studying for the Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) exam. What sets me apart from others is my work ethic. My favorite thing to do is work out. I love feeling strong, healthy, and fit so if I can’t work out my day isn’t complete. For example if I know my day is going to be hectic I plan ahead and figure out how early I need to start to get the daily goals completed. If that means getting up at 2am to make it happen then 2am it is !
I’m mostly proud of how much I am able to do in a day, then look back a year later and look at how much I’ve accomplished all year. I’m always looking for ways to be creative to bring out my many talents. I truly enjoy doing it because I’m such a shy person, a true introvert, so people don’t really know how much I can do, or how versatile I can be.
Where I am today is not exactly where I want to be but what I have going on so far I am truly grateful and blessed. Consistency, determination, and dedication have been essential in getting me this far.
Because I love working out and I believe in no days off, I have started to incorporate that mindset into my daily life. If I can wake up every morning to push myself to work out I can give that same energy, consistency, determination and dedication into anything I want to do. I’m not saying it was easy, but it became easier because I’m always consistent and dedicated to what I am doing.
What I’ve learned is that everybody has their time to shine. Today may not be your day to shine and maybe not even tomorrow or the day after or the next month. But in reality it’s self vs self so you are shining but everybody else may not see it yet . But when they do, it becomes nothing to you because you’ve been working hard all this time to accomplish so many great things in your life. So don’t ever stop working hard because someone didn’t notice it or acknowledge you, do it for yourself because at the end you feel better and can’t believe how much you have accomplished.
Patience is the key to success, you just can’t rush the process. Another thing I learned is that an opportunity is an opportunity so it doesn’t hurt to take it . Take the opportunity to learn and experience something new, it’s not always about money. You don’t know what good things can come out of an opportunity.
I want the world to know about me, my brand and my story because it’s different from other stories you hear. The way I started to create myself and my brand is because someone else saw something in me that I never thought was possible. I was very skeptical about it at first because I’m an introvert but decided to give it a try and I learned that people love me. They get motivated and inspired especially since I’m always on my grind. I love inspiring people that are like me, shy, low key, lack self confidence and just don’t think they’ll stand out enough to be noticed. I’ve always been afraid to get out of my comfort zone but you just have to be uncomfortable in order to grow. Everything that I do, I learn, apply it, and stay consistent. You can do anything, as long as you put in the work.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite place to hangout is downtown Boston. I love the waterfront, the view and the seafood restaurants such as Pier 6 , Legal Seafoods, and Battery Wharf Grille. A few things to do is sight seeing, strolling harbor side and learning about the culture and historical attractions. It’s just very interesting and educational. I recommend checking out some paint bar locations and a few nightclubs for fun.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Huge shout out to Andre and Jessica Gray, without these two the thought of pursuing a modeling career, building a brand, being in commercials and starring in music videos, wouldn’t have been an option. Another huge shout out to my parents! They are the reason I am who I am today. They’ve showed me how important it is to work, but to WORK HARD and SMART. Nothing in life is easy, and my parents who are haitian immigrants expressed that a lot.
My assistant Jamila, without her I wouldn’t be able to get as organized and ready for most of my shoots. My cousins Nelda, William, and Kenson for always supporting me. My friend Paula, Joe and trainer/brother Brian. Thank you for always being there for me, and pushing me to be great . My team Royal Starletz thanks for dealing with me even when I’m angry but also try and fix difficult situations. Last but not least, my boyfriend who came into my life when I started building my brand, creating and developing g3ri360. He came in fully supportive and understanding. With his daily positivity, love, and encouragement I am stronger. He makes me feel way more confident in myself and is just what a determined independent woman needs.
