We had the good fortune of connecting with Gwendolyn Riley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gwendolyn, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I can remember around age 13, when I cooked my first meal that I’ve always wanted to explore the Culinary Arts World. With Losing My Job in Education of 8yrs, I decided that this wouldn’t be a better time to Explore Culinary Arts.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Culinary Delights LLC, Was Founded in September of 2018. I knew I wanted to Excel in My Business, so I wanted to Take Every Opportunity I had to learn and grow. I’ve studied under many French Trained Chefs/Instructors. After the Beginning of the Pandemic, I decided to take Culinary Delights to a New Level. Going from just selling meals/plates, to Actually Catering Events, Providing Meal Preps, and Offering Private Chef Services.
Hard Work, Determination to Excel, and of Course Talent has gotten me where I am Today! Trust Me, It wasn’t Easy. Took a Bunch of “try that again” and let’s try this, this way” , but I definitely see growth and I’m grateful for the growth and opportunities We’ll be granted in the near future.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friend lives here. So it wouldn’t be hard to plan things to do while I have free time. Since we’re foodies, each day we’d probably stop at a Restaurant/Lounge that has a Great Atmosphere and The Food and. Drinks have to be on Point As Well! My Fave Spots in Houston are Taste Bar and Grill, Fogo de Chao, Maestros, and Landry’s . The food and drinks at these establishments are well worth the experience!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Culinary Delights LLC would be no where without my Staff! My Sous Chef- Ashlie Strait, My Pastry Chef- Harold Smith, our Administrative Assistant, Shameka Morton and our Chef in training, Glynn Riley. Without the help of these mentioned, Culinary Delights couldn’t run smoothly as a Catering Company.
