We had the good fortune of connecting with Harold Guerra and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Harold, what matters most to you?
Respect! I’ve always believed respect is a key component of everything we do. It means honoring people’s calling, vision and who they are. Respect creates a culture where individuals are valued, heard and empowered. In business, respect always produces the best results because it allows productivity and creativity. It fosters growth by acknowledging people’s thoughts and abilities. If you value respect, you’ll gain a good reputation. Ultimately, I think, a respect driven business will always lead to a model of sustainable success not just one big momentary peak. Respect teaches you to treat people well, and it builds resilience.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What we do includes an element of faith…in business, in music and leading a congregation. I think consistency and sticking to the vision you have before you in everything: business, faith, and family. Understanding what you’re called to do and not being moved by anything else other than the calling you have for your life, family and business. Staying focused is key. A lot of people suffer and don’t reach the goal because they lose focus. Consistency would be my encouragement to others and myself; to continue to stay consistent in the calling you set out to fulfill in business and in faith.

It’s definitely not easy. Nothing that is worthwhile is easy and it is kind of a cliche saying, but it is so true. If it is too easy, then it probably isn’t long lasting. I think part of overcoming the different hardships or difficulties in business as an entrepreneur and in faith or even as a pastor is being surrounded by the right people. Understanding your limitations and staffing yourself with the right people to fill those needs. Understanding what you’re not is hard as a leader. Knowing you don’t have all the solutions but you can listen to the input of those around you. One of the answers to overcoming hardships is always surrounding yourself with the right people not just “yes” people, but those that will show you when you’re wrong. Having great mentors has always helped me personally, professionally and spiritually.

Having your eyes set on a higher power, understanding that there is a God that is Available! Knowing that people have access to God in their business, in their faith walk, in their family and understanding that God can change your story. I want people to know that if you allow God to be involved in your life, success is already there! It might look different than what you thought or what you dreamed of, but God has a purpose and a will for all of us and we just have to make ourselves available to him.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
THE HOUSTON ROCKETS!!! Nonstop! Anything sports related in the city of Houston.
The Galleria area, especially the Water Wall.
There’s always lots to see in the Museum District.
I’d also recommend they check out the restaurants and take a drive through The Woodlands.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely…My wife, Elena! I could not do what I do without her. Her continued encouragement, she believes in me more than I believe in myself sometimes. She helps me see the details because I’m a big picture guy. She’s always pointing out the details that we need to take care of in business, in family and faith. She keeps me focused. She’s a good friend, a good mentor and she brings a good balance in every area of my life.
