We had the good fortune of connecting with Hiral Shah and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hiral, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
Growing up in town of India, after school and school breaks we will play in neighborhood grounds and collect construction materials, clay, sand and little rocks to make our clay mix and out of we would make clay pots, animals and other toys to play.. Also, we use clay pots in daily use, which Always felt home to me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am still learning and will continue to learn from my our creations and from fellow potter’s. My work is mainly functional items hand thrown items with mix of indian and American influence. I love to make round belly vases, similar to Matka, water vase, i enjoy making all size bowls, from tiny to vessel sink.
I prefer simple glaze and let my pieces speak for it all

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to mention my family for always supporting me and encouraging me in all my venture in life. I would like to mention my Saturday pottery friends who has helped me grow artistically, and personally at what i do today.

There support and well wishes means world to me and i know without them in my life i wouldn’t be where I am today.
