Meet J King | Creative Architect

We had the good fortune of connecting with J King and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi J, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking is the greatest assets a creative can have. Every single time I create a short film, make content for socials, or create a piece of clothing. I risk the audience being the judge of what I’ve created from my soul. Allow room for failure and that risk/reward balance is probably another reason I love risk because most of the things I create wouldn’t be worth it without it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is honestly me trying to portray my truest form of self through different forms of media. My exciting part of my ventures is always the next project. No matter what it is, that’s what keeps me pushing and going and striving for greater. That next hit of true success in the thing your creating and striving towards.
Professionally I would say that a lot of the opportunities I was presented came easy only because I was consistent in the work I was dong before the opportunity came for m to execute. For example, stepping into a role at Aslut Zine as one of the creative directors of the brand. That was easy because I had been doing things around the city thata allowed my collective expertise to be perfect for that position in that brand. Now there isn’t to say there aren’t challenges. I struggle mainly with imposter syndrome that gets me a lot. My challenges are usually self imposed to be honest.
The main thing I want the world to know about my brand and my story is to truly live in your authentic true self. Which is truly one of the hardest things you will ever do. It will make you question your own beliefs and it will break you down by molecule, but in the end it is well worth the heartache and suffering.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly, my favorite spots are all downtown OKC literally just pick any neighborhood weather that be Plaza, Midtown, or Bricktown and just fully explore that ares of the city and experience the people that frequent there and the day and night life. That’s the only way to experience the city in its entirety.
