We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamele Mason and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamele, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
This is a question that I’ve found myself asking many times throughout my life and I think I’ve finally found out what generally works for me and how to make that decision. When faced with if I should give something up or keep going, I usually ask myself if I give up now, will I still think about this, will it eat away at me a year from now that I didn’t try? If the answer is yes then I have to keep going. I never want to live with regret or the burning question what if.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am currently in Real Estate as a New Homes Sales Executive for a developer of luxury condo’s and townhomes in Los Angeles. Real Estate was always something I wanted to get into and do well at but it wasn’t always easy. I got my start in the business in 2014 after being licensed and I had big plans and aspirations which didn’t pan out right away. This business takes patience and preparation and I had neither at the time. It wasn’t until I had no choice but to sit, focus and seek mentorship from someone who knew what they were doing that I then started to see results. It was always my dream to sell luxury real estate and I knew in order to do it, I had to gain as much experience as possible so I started home in Houston as a buyer’s agent and then gained some experience working for developers who built new construction which has helped me get to where I am today.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area and I wanted to show them the best time ever, we would for sure have to go to a sporting event to see either The Rockets, Texans or Astros play then I’d have to take them places you could only find in Houston like Shipleys and my favorite restaurant in Houston which in Peli Peli
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my family. I’ve always had and continue to have so much love and support from them. Who I am, who I’ve become and who I will always be at the core, is because of the village that I had surrounding me.
